Short summary:
The party seeks out the Green Knight, rumoured to be in the Copper Mountain, while keeping an eye out for the Rod of Wonder. They find a Republican camp, infiltrate it, and use that information to sneak into the Copper Mountain. With the help of Lady Azovka, the Malachite Maid, they find the crazy Spark Driller Mech (which was powered by the core of the Wondrous Rod) in combat with Green Knight. They join the fray, take out the Mech, and inform the Knight of The Last, the Lost City, before returning home happy and healthy.
Full Report
After a quick meet and greet with a fellow adventuring party seeking out a Rainbow Knight (White Knightin their case, Green Knightin ours), our party departs. Our first stop is the Temple of the Two Suns, where we have a delightful conversation with Elgie and Beety. They are quite happy to trade gossip for some delicious Eleutherian Vintage from my bottomless Amphora (which apparently Marsyas refuses to bring them). I start things off with my own juicy gossip: how exactly did all the Rainbow Knights forget about the lost city? And what are the odds the daemons start to appear as soon as we work to bring the city back? Oh, and how the shepherdess Lamaia is probably a werebear.
Elgie and Beety have some hot goss the offer in return:
- Naiads are super sad that they are being driven from the rivers to the east (the ones that connect the Lake to the seas);
- The Republic of Jagriarius is transporting digging machines to the Copper Mountain;
- The Moon is rising in the East, not West aaand silver blooms where it shouldn't;
- Some folks can suddenly turn into beast as if they were werebeasts, but might not be;
I briefly relay my impressions of the Rainbow Knights to Xamak, and offer my theory on the true identities of the Purple Knight and Gilded Knight (check out the Scry for that juicy tidbit!).
We briefly chat with Bethany Claie and Marsyas (who are totally an item!) and learn many tantalizing details of their love lives. Murphy spots Marsyas' invisible friend, a Lurker in Twilight named Ombretta, who is totally a spy and was quite protective of the secret ritual held in the Temple of the Two Suns.
Once the ceremony is done, we hitch a ride with Marsyas in his larger-than-life boat. It takes a few days, but soon enough we reach a landing spot just a short hike away to the mountain. We quickly find a Republican camp and expertly spot the two entrances to the mountain guarded by the Goblinoid forces. The camp also features a main building with smoke rising from it. Interestingly, we spot a fancy Goblin in robes with two burly guards. The camp also has six watchtowers.
Through some clever hijinks, we befriend a Unknown chef and I exchange images with him. Now the Chef, I return to camp and enter the factory / cathedral. The noble Goblin tries to calm down some unruly Bugbears who are not happy they can no longer work. Partly because their Digger broke. Though he also mentions they will have the Golden Scale Company to send another cargo ship.
With some diligent investigation, I learn about how the Digger, officially called the Spark Driller, is disabled and its purpose is to help mine something called malachite and that the Goblinoids plan to enter the Copper Mountain to try and fix the machine. The workers pay will apparently be docked and they are running low on coal. Others say there was a huge explosion of multi-colored lights. Oh, and they don't believe the mountain has any Fey because Fey like nature and plants, but there is a rumour about a mysterious Ghost in the Stone. As a small tidbit, the noble Goblin has a Troll bodyguard and/or protégé named Ruckus. Before departing, I have a nice long chat with a Bugbear leader, start a small fire, and regroup with the others.
Once the party was up to speed, we decide to sneak into the southern tunnel entrance. We are mostly successful, though we have to subdue a few guards (who don't do a great job listening to their commanding officer). Once inside the totally wrong tunnel (that chef really was useless and picked up a few extra holes from his buddies), we power up an old cart and come across tons of lizards and pretty, glowing lights. We are soon greeted by Lady Azovka the Bejeweled, the Malachite Maid, the Mistress of the Copper Mountain, She Who Speaks for the Dead, and her retainer, a brilliant golden serpent (whose name is Sir Poloz). The Malachite Maid reveals that she has eyes and ears all throughout her domain, and mentions how the Spark Driller went crazy after some tampering and hasty repairs. It also seems the Goblins stole the Rod of Wonder from the Malachite Maid's royal vaults and used it to power the Spark Driller somehow and, while the Green Knight is currently facing it, help would be greatly appreciated.
We follow her guiding lights where the find the Green Knight and the Maid's forces fighting off the crazy Spark Driller and some Undead. With some incredible team work (sensory magic and healing from the benevolent Murphy and incredible tripping skills from both Akhelios Mildspire and Neithan), we are able to defeat the berserk mech that is constantly spewing crazy magic in a field of crazy magic. We reclaim the Rod, and inform the Green Knight about the location of the Lost City.
