Sewage Trouble in Center
Reports continue about overflowing sewage in several districts, with the city’s centre seemingly most affected.
We spoke with Head of the Sewer Worker’s Guild – Arth Heindeers – who blames the issues on ongoing budget cuts.
City officials meanwhile, claim that sufficient funds have been made available to clear the sewers, blaming the Guild for their lacking work. Though no specific person was willing to go on the record, regarding this.
Mr. Heindeers meanwhile pleads caution when encountering foul smells, and recommends to notify the Guild. However, he admits they will have to rely on external help, in such cases.
Dwarven Murderer Sentenced to Death by Hanging
In a story concerning the safety of our grand city, the Dwarf Man identified as Halmar Wannarsson was tried for murder in the City Center yesterday. He had been accused of murdering his second cousin. As the trial proceeded, the prosecution pleaded for death penalty, citing the pettiness behind the murderer’s motive – an unsettled debt – and fears of public safety, should the long living dwarf eventually be released.
The defense maintained Mr. Wannarsson’s innocence, pointing out inconsistencies in the stories of witnesses, by eye, ear and hearsay all, but were unable to convince the judge. When the verdict was made, the Stonebrook native was sentenced to death. He is scheduled to be hanged next weekend.
Stonebrook representative Bredar Filgesson claims to be satisfied with the verdict reached, having personally attended the trial, but has reiterated the point that Mr. Wannarsson should have been transferred to their sub-district, to stand trial there. He emphasizes the importance of “ancient traditions, in a city as storied as Blackrock.” The Court and Judiciary refused to comment, on the matter, when we reached out.
Calls for Strikes
In a shocking development, the Metalworkers’ and Steamfitters’ Guild (MSG) has called for strikes amid fears that magical technologies (magi-tech or spark-tech) may soon threaten further guild jobs.
Our reporters spoke to members of the guild, noting a general sentiment that Blackrock need reminding of the Guild’s power.
Rival guilds have so far refused to comment on the threats of strike, or the impact they would have.
Weather to Clear
Master Zyldar Ivvarin of the newly established Meteorological Institute predicts for the ongoing storms to clear in the next couple of days, citing clear signs in the clouds.
While doubts over the abilities of the Institute remain, she believes predictions will improve with time, due to lessons learned, and trust will be established through continued correct predictions.
She would like to note that any predictions are without guarantee.
Crime Bursts Bubble
Ongoing Crime within the Bubble has brought trade to a halt, with raids on transports into the Center causing delays for all shipping.
Sources claim that an informant among the Port Authorities has been feeding information to organised crime.
Head of the Merchants’ Guild, Mauve Sherving has voiced harsh criticism the mysterious figure named “The Dockmaster”, for his lacking efforts to keep shipments running smoothly.
