Welcome to Project: Blackrock

This is an urban tabletop RPG setting, for a West-Marches style campaign, hosted by and for the Bern-based tabletop RPG club Katakomben und Lindwürmer (kul-verein.ch)

Games are played in person, at the rooms provided by the club, and individual sessions are free to attend. Priority for sign ups is given to members of KuL. For more information regarding membership, consult the KuL Website.

Originally founded as part of the wider Imperium, Blackrock is now one of its few free cities, having been granted a large amount of autonomy in its own governance. Thus, most of the empire's restrictions on races, sexes, and other such classifications do not apply here. These exemptions were hard fought, in times when the empire was weaker, due to misrule.

The city has well used its status, to prosper mercantile trade, and has more recently become a hub for technological and magical learning and advancement. Due to the relatively lesser discrimination here, Blackrock has attracted denizens of a great many peoples. In fact, it has often been the place where those displaced by imperial expansion, have sought refuge. This has led to the creation of its many districts, catering to the needs of its diverse population. Divisions which have, over the course of the city's existence, oft led to conflicts between the districts, which have more recently been able to be cooled down.

• Starting Equipment: As listed, or take average Gold and buy from: Weapons, Armour, Adventuring Gear
• All official books released for DnD 2014 may be used for Races, Classes, Subclasses, and Backgrounds
  • Excluding Backgrounds that provide Spells and/or Feats
  • Proficiencies provided by the Background may be freely modified

Please note that any individual player may only have 2 Active Characters, at any point in time. If you already have two characters, and wish to create a new one, you will have to retire one of your Characters. To do so, please get in touch with the Loremaster.

Please also note that GMs may ban individual Races - such as ones with a flying speed or water breathing - on an individual Session-basis, to simplify planning. There is no Blanket Ban on any specific Races.

How to get Started

First of all, thank you for showing interest in GM'ing for Blackrock. We would love to have you. Here's what you need to know.

There are certain channels on Discord and functionalities on Kanka, that non-GMs do not have access to. If you wish to GM for Blackrock, please contact the Loremaster on Discord, whether that be through Blackrock Channels on the KuL Discord, or via direct messages. He will ensure you receive all required links and roles.

You will also be required to make an account on both Discord - if you don't already - and Kanka, as they are our coordination platforms.

The GMs Responsibilities

To make things easier on you, we have intentionally designed Blackrock to allow GMs to focus on their own sessions, and let other matters be the concern of the Loremaster and other admins on the Kanka and Discord.

Your responsibilities will be as follows:

• Session Prep & Running the Session
• Post-Session Reports - brief

That is it. You are not expected to contribute any lore, if you do not wish to, but you may.
