The Blackguard are the city government's protectors and guards. They were originally founded as a result of the of mayor Ewald Stretegor's assassination, and their purpose has greatly expanded, in the years since. They now both protect City Hall and other government buildings, and accompany the mayor to all public events; as well as investigating potential threats and acting against them, preventing them from ever coming to pass.
They consist of a publicly visible branch, that deter attackers, generally wearing heavy plate and appearing heavily armed - though exceptions have been known to be made - always painted the order's signature black colour; as well as more covert operatives, hiding among the masses both during public events and at the different sites the Blackguard protects. Most of the Guard's investigations are handled by these covert operatives.
They are headquartered in the Obsidian Tower, an almost windowless building located between City Hall, and the Judicial District.
