Splints are medical equipment used to immobilise Crippled limbs, thus allowing them to heal naturally in the right position. A crippled limb that is not immobilised will never truly heal, or if it does, will most likely end up crooked and painful. Because they are no more than metal tubes, elastic bands and velcro straps, medical-grade splints are fairly cheap, but they can also be improvised using things like a bandage and a couple of sticks or metal rods.
