Pig Iron

Pig iron is the crude product of reducing iron ore by Coal or Coke at extreme temperatures, producing a high-carbon metal that is hard and brittle in its raw state. It is the foundational intermediate product of all ferrous metallurgy. Pig iron in this form has limited direct applications, since its brittleness makes it unsuitable for most structural or mechanical uses, but it is the essential input for all steel production and for other types of iron. Oceanykan iron production is substantial, fed by the strangely rich interior ore deposits, and pig iron is one of the most traded bulk commodities on the domestic market.
