Hardened steel is a high-alloy steel designed for maximum resistance to penetration and deformation. One of its most common forms is in Rolled Homogeneous Armour (RHA), a proper material for a battle tank's Steel Armour. The addition of Chromium improves hardness and corrosion resistance; Manganese increases toughness and resistance to abrasion; Nickel and Molybdenum, where added, further improve impact resistance and through-hardness. The result is a very strong metal fit for vehicle armour plate, structural components expected to come under high stress, and any application where high ductility becomes a liability.
