The Oceanykan Revolution brought about a number of changes to The Oceanykan Federation, particularly in its form of governance, which became noticeably more assertive. Australian Anarcho-Capitalism was brushed aside in favour of a New Theory of State, in which a more powerful central government would guide certain facets of the Oceanykan economy, particularly strategic sectors, and act as a counterweight to the wide-reaching influences of industrial conglomerates.
- Federal control over the economy was massively strengthened through various means. For example, the Bass Strait Naval Complex was constructed, which contains naval shipyards and fossil fuel extraction facilities, both of which are owned by The Oceanykan Federation. Previous sources of shadow funding were legitimised, expanded and federalised, as is the case with C3 Exports from the Department of Commerce or industrial prison labour from the Federal Correctional Service. Additionally, the levy tax was raised from its paltry pre-Revolution 2% to a relatively high 5%. All of these actions strengthened the economic position of the Federal government, allowing them to break free from the yoke of corporatocracy, which was one of the main objectives of the Oceanykan Revolution as proposed by Oceanyka's Federal Socialists, chiefly Alan Redfort.
- After the Revolution, Oceanyka began receiving ample investment from the Eastern Bloc ⚒️, while thanks to skilful diplomatic manoeuvring in the form of guarantees, securities and the influence of pro-western Sovereignties such as the Republic of Sydney, there was a limited loss of Western Bloc 🦅 capital. This meant that Oceanyka did not suffer from capital flight as had historically occurred in countries that had lived through a left-wing revolution, but rather, the country managed to play both sides, while strengthening its own position. It was additionally welcomed with open arms into the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (COMECON).
- The Federal Government and private enterprise partnered in order to massively boost Oceanyka's key economic sectors. Some of these are the nation's traditional strengths: the Resource Sector ⛏️, the Defence Sector 🧨 and the Energy Sector ⚡, while others which were found to be lacking were given subsidies and greater investment, such as the Electronics Sector 💡. These policies have an emphasis on small and medium corporations, with a bias towards worker-owned enterprises. Another area of interest is in bleeding-edge technologies such as the Microfission Cell, which the great powers abroad lack, and brave Oceanykan pioneer companies such as ACME Atomic Industries have wasted no time in pressing the advantage.
- Finally, as detailed in the New Theory of State, the Australian Workers' Union was strengthened by making it a "union-of-unions". As such, while labour unions found themselves suppressed across the board just a decade prior, in the 1960s they are one of the strongest economic forces in Oceanyka. Worker-owned or worker-managed corporations are increasingly common, such as the National Rail Workers Syndicate. In many cases the transformation of society has been so complete that entire Sovereignties adopted a worker-managed system of governance, as happened with the Melbourne Workers' Syndicate and the Farenday Pirate Syndicate.
Nobody knows what awaits Oceanyka in the coming decades, but for now, its economic transformation has been profound. While the continent will never rid itself of banditry, corruption, tyrannical Sovereignties, internal wars, general poverty, precarious working conditions, the dangers of the wild and the ever-present threat of foreign invasion (or, in the Cold War, the threat of nuclear war), most economists can confidently say that the Oceanykan Revolution has been a net positive for the Oceanykan working class, and for the Oceanykan economy as a whole.
