☠️ Sorcha, the Witch-Bitch
Goddess of Vengeance, Violent Ends, and Blood-Drenched Justice
Chaotic Deity of Misery Made Righteous
Domains: Death, Murder, Strife
Symbol: A curved dagger with a skull-shaped pommel
Alignment: Chaotic
🩸 Lore & Divine Nature
Sorcha, daughter of the uncaring god Death, is the goddess of revenge, of bloody endings, of injustices screamed into the uncaring night. She is the last resort, the whispered prayer in the mouth of the betrayed, the red answer when the world gives none. Her name is spoken by the downtrodden, the cast-out, the wronged who cannot find recourse in laws built to serve the strong.
Unlike her father—cold, mute, inevitable—Sorcha listens. She does not offer comfort, but a knife. Where Donblas, Justice Maker offers law, she offers revenge. Where Nisaba, the Ledger-Keeper offers contracts, she offers curses. Where society turns a blind eye, she opens hers, black and burning.
Sorcha's rage is legendary—not just at mortals, but at her own family: Death, her father, who sees no need for worship and ignores all pleas; the Duke of Bones, her brother, who plays caretaker of bones with no purpose beyond stillness. She alone chooses who dies screaming and who dies begging, and she alone decides whether the sacrifice was enough.
🌑 Depiction
Sorcha is depicted as a tall, lithe woman clad in flowing robes of midnight and tarnished silver, her face veiled but her mouth always bloodstained. She wields a jagged dagger with a skull-shaped hilt—sometimes a relic, sometimes a metaphor. Her unbound hair floats as if underwater, and shadows cling to her skin like bruises. In rare visions, her face is that of the supplicant’s most hated enemy.
Her followers call her The Black Flame, The Avenging Sister, or She-Who-Knows-Your-Grief.
🛕 Worship & Doctrine
Temples: Rare and secretive. Shrines often appear in neglected cemeteries, burnt-out homes, prison ruins, or alley sanctuaries daubed in blood.
Clergy Titles: Cut-Mothers, Redhands, Vow-Keepers
Holy Days:
-
Moon of Blood (new moon of spring): Sacrifices made under cover of darkness.
-
Lunar Eclipses: Considered holy. Portents are drawn from the cries of victims slain under the darkened moon.
Holy Symbol: A dagger with a skull pommel, often carved into stone, worn on pendants, or painted in ash and blood.
Sacred Animals: Carrion birds, black dogs, and hornets.
⚔️ Tenets of the Red Vow
Followers of Sorcha may not form churches in the traditional sense. They are cells, vendetta-bound orders, and lone agents of vengeance. Their guiding beliefs:
-
No sin unanswered. Where justice fails, you must act.
-
Take the pain, make it a weapon.
-
A vow once sworn in blood is holy. Breaking it is apostasy.
-
No innocent dies for another’s guilt. But no guilty walks free.
-
The gods of order are blind. You are their eyes now.
🕯️ Clerics & Spellcasting
Spellcasting: Clerics of Sorcha may prepare spells only during the dark of night, and never beneath sunlight or open sky unless under storm or eclipse. New moons grant her full favor.

✨ Holy Garb of the Redhands
“Let the world see your mourning—and fear what comes next.”
— Sorcha’s 3rd Vow
Vestments: Clerics wear ash-black robes cut in angular shapes, marked with white handprints of past oath-rites. Garb is always worn over bare skin. A red scarf, sash, or hood is worn on holy days.

| Initiate | Robe of Ashes | 20 gp | Required for 1st-level spells. Dust of burned oath-parchments is mixed into its weave. |
| Avenger | Veil of Sorrows | 75 gp | Required for 2nd-level spells and higher. Grants +1 to saves against charm or fear when vengeance is sworn. |
| Vow-Keeper | Cloak of the Last Breath | 300 gp | Required for 3rd-level spells and higher. While wearing it during a lunar eclipse, any killing blow heals the cleric for 1d4 HP (1/day, DM fiat). |
