📜 Lore & Origin

Burttah is the living hunger between birth and death—the swollen goddess of gluttony, lust, and raw, ungoverned fertility. To her followers, especially among the ogre clans, obesity is holiness, a sign of spiritual vitality and divine strength. Her name is spoken with reverence in the deepest cave-wombs and blood-slick tents of ogre matrons, for she is both womb and weapon, devourer and birther, queenmaker and midwife of monsters.

Where lawful gods speak of lineage and contracts, Burttah speaks in urges—in bone-cracking passion rites, sweat-slick trials of virility, and feasts that blur the line between nourishment and sacrament. Among ogre tribes, it is her high priestesses, the Matron-Queens, who choose chieftains based on their strength in the sacred bed-pits, often in wild public rites under the moons. These rites mimic the Hieros Gamos, the divine mating of king and goddess, with the understanding that only one strong enough to pleasure a daughter of Burttah is worthy of power.

While she is reviled in cities, whispered of in brothel-prayers and witch-feasts, she is also honored—grudgingly—as a chaotic spirit of fecundity and feminine power that even civilization must secretly reckon with.

Burttah is portrayed as a massive, nude ogress, with pendulous breasts and a swollen belly covered in tattoos of animals, roots, and twisted runes of fertility. She wears a feathered tiara, serpentine jewelry, and golden rosette-shaped sequin breastplates. Her skin is ochre or greenish-gray, often adorned with sacred paint or the blood of sacrifices. She is always smiling—a lewd, open-mouthed grin of satisfaction and prophecy.

In iconography, she’s often shown squatting atop a mound of bones and infants, attended by ogre maidens offering bowls of blood, stew, or seed.

🧪 Magical Traditions

Clerics and Matrons of Burttah may brew potions and poultices using bodily fluids, herbs, and spices. These brews can induce fertility, monstrous gestation, or temporary strength and virility. Mechanically, these may act as:

  • Potion of Giant Strength (1/week via sacred union ritual)

  • Elixir of Fertility (conception or monstrous birth guaranteed within a moon cycle)

  • Unctuous Feast (greater restoration if consumed fully during ritual feasting)

👗 Holy Garb of Burttah's Priesthood

Clerics of Burttah wear ceremonial skirts or sashes made of stitched hide, teeth, and golden sequins. Their torsos are bared, daubed with sacred grease or blood, and adorned with heavy jewelry—mirrors, bells, and serpentine brooches.
