🙏 So You're a Cleric
Clerics are mortal vessels of divine will—warriors of spirit who serve the gods, the saints, or the great powers of the world. Whether armored crusaders or humble flamebearers, all clerics wield a blend of martial training and divine magic to protect, heal, judge, or purge.
In the world of Delvers of the West, faith is not abstract. It is immediate, present, and often terrifying in its intensity. The gods grant spells. Saints manifest in battle. Holy symbols burn in the presence of the unclean.
📜 What Does a Cleric Do?
Clerics are adventurers who have sworn to serve a higher power. They are trained in battle and empowered by divine spells. Most can turn (or command) undead, wear heavy armor, and wield a limited range of weapons. While some serve temples, others walk the road, bringing their god’s justice, mercy, or wrath to the forgotten corners of the world.
Your connection to a deity, saint, or doctrine defines your spellcasting and moral boundaries. You are expected to uphold the tenets of your faith—at least publicly. Clerics who stray too far from their god’s path may lose their power... or be hunted by others who have not.
⛪ Choose Your Patron Deity
When you choose Cleric as your class, you must also choose a divine power to serve. The world of Ashkarin and its borderlands teems with old gods, saints, elemental powers, and shadowed cults. See the section on Gods for all the details.
