Darna

Nation

The Holy Land, the Cursed Land, the Island of Heaven and Hell. Darna comes with many nicknames and rightfully so. Originally given to the Aasimar people, Darna consisted of the large, weirdly shaped island between Eratus and Caldar and a small part of the land in Caldar. The presence and divinity of the fragments were the strongest there and pilgrims traveled across the world to visit Darna. That quickly changed when Tiefling people arrived and made their homes within the Aasimar land. There was a strong reaction from many pilgrims and nearby nations for allowing those "devils" as they were called, to live in the sacred land and so close to humans of Aldion. That slowly escalated into war between the two neighboring nations. The war ended with one of the agreements made to concentrate the bulk of the tieflings on the island instead of the continental part of Darna and allow Aldion to send their exiled people there too. Aldion paid heavy tribute to Darna in return. That made a schism in the citizens of Darna, with those sent to the island feeling abandoned and labeled as criminals together with exiled (and often criminal) people from Aldion. The island eventually broke free from Darna, turning itself into a lawless land the birth of the first pirate nation Blackden.

Geography

The nation of Darna was split between the peninsula east of Aldion, rising high above the sea with cliffs on all sides, and the large island (that later became Blackden) that was full of forests and rich surrounding waters. The peninsula is formed around the highest mountain of caldar, which houses an active volcano. The land itself bolsters the connection to the gods, believed to be a side effect of Aasimar living there for a long time.

Capital city: Seraflame, also known as Gods' Landing

Government

Darna is ruled by the Unknown, an Aasimar and a Tiefling, chosen by their respective people. The criteria for choosing might differ from time to time, but they are rarely simple voting.

Demographics

Darna is roughly split between Aasimar and Tiefling people with about 2% of other races living there, excluding pilgrims. They are the smallest nation of Caldar in population, as both of its races have low birth rates and their original number was smaller than other races.
