Spirit's appearance.

Lyssa appears as a grandmotherly halfling roughly 120 years old.  She is pleasantly round without being fat, and always has a warm smile.  Her attire is that of a simple halfling woman, often wearing an apron over her clothes.  Like all spirits she is surrounded by a soft white-blue glow.

The world the Spirit came from.

Abeir-Toril

Spirit's intentions.

In life Lyssa was the quintessential hostess.  She never traveled more than a few dozen miles from her home villiage, but she was known throughout the area as a fantastic cook and party planner (which by halfling standards is really saying something).  She never judges anyone by their appearance.  All are welcome at her feasts as long as they behave themselves!  She often appears to travelers on the road as they make their camp for the evening.  She will cheerfully step in and assist the cook, somehow knowing the best way to use whatever is available to make a delicious feast for all.  She loves to hear tales of far-off places and will encourage everyone to share a story.  Discord among the group causes her great distress, and may result in her leaving early if the mood does not change to one of harmony.  In any case, her appearances last no more than a few hours, after which she will fade away with a wave and a cheerful smile.

Spirit's personality and mannerisms.

She is warm, kind and welcoming.  Lyssa will encourage a convivial atmosphere as much as she can, and can't help interfering when a meal is being prepared (although her assistance is always beneficial).  Rude behavior or angry conflicts will cause her to try to intervene to calm the situation.  But her patience for such things is limited and if it continues, she will quickly disappear.  Similarly if her attempts to aid in any cooking are rebuffed she will become greatly distressed and eventually leave.

How does it communicate?

Lyssa is familiar with the Common and Halfling tongues of Abeir-Toril.  Among those she cannot communicate with verbally, she will use gestures and pantomime to get her meaning across.  She still seeks out stories from her guests even if she cannot understand what is being said.  It's more about the comradery gained from such simple social interactions.
