One Shot - A Very Troublesome First Day

We start randomly with one of the characters (Rollies? d4? let them decide?), on the morning of their first day of high school.

Alex Davis

Alex is at home, busy preparing for the first day of school. It is early in the morning, far too early, but the sun is already up. Her father, Harvey Davis is already up and the smell of fresh coffee slowly fills the house.

Her father greets her cheerfully once she leaves her room, sitting at the kitchen table eating cereals and reading the newspaper. There already is a mug for her on the table, with the pot of hot coffee also available. If Alex does not want to have breakfast with her dad, he asks her to at least have a cup of coffee and some toast. If she decides to have some, he smiles at her.

"First day of high school, huh? Are you nervous?" - Alex answers?

"Ahh, don't worry! You are such a smart girl, you'll conquer High School the same way you did with Middle School!" - Alex answers?

They eat in peace, maybe do small talk, or whatever.

"Oh, and Alex, do me a favor, please. It's your first day. Enjoy it. Relax a bit. Don't worry too much." - Alex answers?

Harvey gets up  after finishing his breakfast. He puts his mug and empty bowl in the dish washer, then goes back to Alex, and gives her a kiss on the head.

"Take care, Busy Bee, love you!" - Alex answers?

Harvey takes his jacket and phone, then leaves for the morning to go to work.

Alex leaves home to go to school.

Adam Meyers

It is early morning, and Adam is still asleep in his bedroom. That's when someone knocks on his door pretty loudly. Jacob's voice can be heard through the door:

"Come on sleepyhead, get up! If you're not at the door in 30 seconds am gonna start singing and won't stop!" - Adam reacts?

If he does not go to the door, Jacob starts singing:

»Step one, you say we need to talk
He walks, you say sit down, it's just a talk
He smiles politely back at you
You stare politely right on through
Some sort of window to your right
As he goes left, and you stay right
Between the lines of fear and blame
You begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong?
I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life!«

If he goes to the door,  Jacob sits in front of the door in his wheelchair, not wearing his prosthetic leg, but instead has it tucked behind him in a bag hanging from the chair.

"First day of school and you almost slept in. What would you do without your beloved Jacob... Nice PJ's by the way."

Maybe small talk, whatever Adam wants to do.

Jacob enters the big room and takes one look around

"Oh damn, look at this mess. Did you even pack your bag?" He rolls towards Adam's desk and then looks back to him. "You nervous? First day at the coolest high school ever. Y'know that Phoenix Punch went there, right?! And who knows who else! You'll be so damn cool, another hero at the perfect school for heroes. Ahhh... so much envy, dude."

- Small Talk, maybe talking about the school or heroes?

"Oh fuc- shi-! Damn, don't tell your mom I cursed. But look at the time. Go get ready, Adam, I'll drive you to school. And hurry up!" He gets out of the room.

Britany Kale

The alarm clock rings, waking Britany up. It's quiet, besides the buzzing of the A/C. Her bag is sitting on her chair, mostly packed for the first day of school, but some essential still lying on the desk (pencil case, notebook, wallet etc.). - what will Britany do?

Her Grandfather Dr. Henry Terrence, is in the kitchen, busy preparing breakfast (making some fried eggs and bacon), there is some stuff on the table already, two empty mugs, an untouched newspaper, a notebook, two glasses full with Orange-juice, a basket full of sliced-bread. After he hears her arriving, her grandpa turns around, looking at here with a wide smile.

"Oh, Britany, good morning! I was about to get you. How have you slept?" -Britany answers?

"Have a seat, have a seat! Every once in a while we both should have breakfast together, don't you think so?" - Britany answers, sits down?

"Sorry dear, I always seem to forget: Coffee or Tea? I can also make you a Hot Chocolate if you prefer that." - Britany answers?

After that, he makes her either a cup of tea or coffee, filling the mug in front of her. Then he finishes with the eggs and bacon and brings two plates to the table, having done a... job of arranging them like a smiling face, that is more grimacing.

"Well? Dig in!" They both start eating.

"You have everything for today, Britany? Do you need money? A lunchbox? Have we gotten all the books yet?" He stops for a second and looks at Britany. "Hahaha! Look at this old geezer here, being more nervous about your first day than you!" -small talk?

"Oh, would you look at the time! Don't want you to be late on your very first day! Let's finish fast and get you to High School!"

He drives Britany to school or brings her to the train/bus station.

Sophie Waters

Early in the morning, there is a loud knocking on Sophie's bedroom door. Her little sisters voice can be heard through it:

"Hey Sis, wake up already! You're going to be really late! And Dana's here to pick you up." - Sophie reacts?

Downstairs in the kitchen is her mother busy making breakfast, with Dana already sitting at the table: "No, thanks Mrs. Waters, I don't need breakfast, I already ate at home!" Upon seeing Sophie enter the kitchen, she stands up, smiling wide and waving at her. Before they can interact, her mom is basically "No, stop it. Both, breakfast, now. It's your first day, you need all the energy you can get." and places two cups with cocoa on the table, besides the sliced bread, jam and cheese that is already there. "Now eat girls, I need to get your sister to school. Why do all the schools start at different times all the time?" and her mom rushes out of the kitchen, grabbing the car keys.

"Huh. your Mom is as busy as always. Well, let's eat at least a little bit." -Sophie reacts?

"But oh wow Sophie! Can you believe it? We're going to CC-High! They have the most successful Tennis-Team ever This is so cool." Sophie's Mother and Sister leave the house, with her sister sticking her tongue out towards Sophie, before they hear the door closing. - Sophie reacts?

Small Talk, maybe?

"So, how about we pack some snacks and talk about all the amazing things we'll be doing starting from today while we're riding the bus?" - Sophie reacts? They search for snacks, maybe.

They leave the house together, with Dana babbling about Tennis and the school.

"Oh, wait. Where is the Bus by the way?" - Sophie reacts? And then the yellow school bus stops a few meters in front of them, with the school logo plastered on one site.

"Look just how lucky we are, let's go!" Dana says and grabs Sophie by the hand, dragging her into the bus.

Arriving at the school, all of you at different times, the first station of your new adventure called High School, is the distribution of the CC-Link. You all stand in the long line until it is your turn. In front of you is either an Agent from A.E.G.I.S. or the Teacher Tyler Woods, taking your info. Alex, it is your turn next, you move up to the next free space in front of Mr. Woods.

"Oh hello, good morning! Full Name and Birthday please." is what he asks, while sitting in front of a PC, ready to enter your information. You see, thanks to Ratyn's 22 Passive Perception, lying on the desk a few papers with instructions to the CC-Link. One of which is lying right next to Mr. Woods monitor, plugged into the PC.

After he enters your information, you see the CC-Link glowing for a second, while the teachers is entering some more information. "Okay, that should be finished. And you're interested in joining the Student Council? A model student right here, hahaha!" He unplugs the CC-Link, grabs one of the papers and hands them to you. "Okay, this is your personal CC-Link. Instructions to it are on that piece of paper, read them before powering it on. Next station is the Omnitorium for the principals speech, just follow the signs. Take care and goodbye!"

The same or very similar interactions happen to all of you. You all continue on your way, mostly following the other students and/or your friends.

The students enter the big Omnitorium and find their place. On the big stage is a speaker's desk with a microphone, facing the room, and the school's crest is displayed on the big screen behind the desk. After some time, the room fills more and more, until about 10 am, when the big doors to the room get closed, and the principal steps on the stage and behind the desk.

The principals speech:

» First of all, I want to welcome all of you to our beloved Cape Coast High! My name is Richard Brenner and I am the principal of this exciting and vibrant school. It is a great pleasure to see so many new young faces, ready to tackle the newest adventures your way to adulthood has prepared for you.

Here at CC-High, we are very proud of our caring, inclusive ethos where we set high standards and expectations for our students to achieve and behave their very best. From the moment you students have enrolled in this school, you are now part of our community, and we all want to make you feel like you belong here, and are happy, to learn to your heart's content. We believe, that happiness and that community spirit is essential to your future success.

Our superb facilities and dedicated staff will enable us to deliver our programs in an environment that is intimate, friendly and attuned to every specific educational need.

We have a plethora of clubs and extra-curricular activities available at the school, that every and all student is entitled to enroll in or use as the school rules dictate.

Our curriculum will continue to further develop all kinds of different fields of study, that are-«

He gets cut off by his microphone not working suddenly. Before he can do something, the screen behind him starts to flicker.

The screen turns black again after those words, then turning back to the school crest. A.E.G.I.S. Agents are trying to keep the students inside, as some start panicking. That is when a new explosion is heard, really close to the school, so that the vibrations can be felt through the ground. Panic ensues, a lot of the students trying to escape the room, with Teachers and Agents trying their best to keep them calm.

Amidst all the chaos raging all around you, what do you want to do?

The door to the public green room is slightly opened, just enough to slip in, if one manages to get close to it.

The principal tries to calm the students down, same as close teachers, while Agents from AEGIS stand in front of the doors leading outside, trying to stop students from running outside, as well as getting more intel on the situation.

There are no windows, at least from what you can see. The booth for the sound and light engineers is empty, but has a big window facing the rest of the room.

The group can basically try to get into the Green Room, which has a window to the outside.

They can also wait and see how the situation progresses, because after about twenty minutes, an AEGIS Agent gets on the stage and tells the students (and teachers) that a hero arrived on the scene and is dealing with the situation outside. They're asked to stay inside, but are allowed to go to the toilets, if they have to, accompanied by an agent, just to make sure. When asked who this hero is, the agent answers: "Oh, it is Airborne.". The group can ditch the toilet-goers pretty easily and get into their hero costumes, if they want (lots of places, either in the toilet stalls or outside the building).

Either way, they meet up as a group.

Do they talk amongst themselves? Probably, I know the people that force me to rewrite secret session planning notes.

Soon after, they reach the point of impact, where they see the villain for the first time. It is The Fox. There is no hero to be seen, because Airborne signaled for help, since this villain is far too powerful for him alone.

Otherwise they reach the school's entrance, where The Fox stands, laughing and growling. He does not seem to realize the group is there, when he grabs a gigantic boulder from the ground, a remnant of the explosion from before, and proceeds to throw it at the school. That's when Phoenix Punch appears, destroying the boulder with a punch, landing right in front of the group.

The Fox growls at him, really angrily, but Phoenix Punch just looks back at the group for a second and introduces himself:

"Hey, you probably have heard of me, but my name is Phoenix Punch. You guys look like real heroes. Can I leave that big guy to you? There are 6 other places where the explosions took place, and those idiots managed to anger Inflammable enough for her to put on her costume again.

Don't worry, AEGIS is here, and they will support you if you need them. Give that guy hell."

They answer? Phoenix Punch will jump up and float with flames coming out of his shoes. He salutes them, and then is off, to another place in the city, where a lot of smoke is coming from.

FIGHT WITH THE FOX.

After the fight is over and done with and the villain is defeated / lying on the ground / making a run for it (most likely), some AEGIS Agents, that were simply watching come to the scene. They help the young heroes up and ask if they're okay, if they need anything. And that they did an awesome job. The rest of the heroes seemed to have defeated the threats throughout the city as well.

They return one way or the other to the Omnitorium. They managed to get back to their seats without any issues. The Principal is on the stage still, and addresses the students again, with an AEGIS Agent standing beside him.

"Dear Students! As we just heard from AEGIS, the threats all throughout the city have been dealt with! We all were really scared there for a minute, but the good heroes from Heldencoast defended us! We are all safe again! But to be absolutely clear: We still don't know who this Order of Disturbance actually is, so whatever they plan, this will not be over. But don't you worry about it, because AEGIS and all the heroes will look out for us. To still end this day on a positive note for all of you, we push the Orientation back a week, so please take the shuttles provided by AEGIS to take you all home, once they led you outside.

And let me deeply apologize for what happened. It might not have been our fault, but it is still the responsibility of the Cape Coast High to ensure the students are in the safest environment possible. Please rest assured - for there will be new safety-guidelines in place once you start your education here."

He bows his head and steps back, making place for the AEGIS Agent, informing you of the shuttles that will arrive shortly, as soon as the headquarters give their okay....

Question: What will Sophie’s day be like?

Sophie thinks she’s used to handling things, she had over an year of balancing school, heroing, and her personal life. She’s bruised from her recent past, with her mentor’s death causing her a lot of grief, but she’s trying to come out stronger and wiser. She’s trying to build a better place for herself, using her newfound freedom to make better opportunities for everyone, especially her friends and family who she feels like she’s been neglecting.

But all is not well, she is trying to deny her pain, and eventually will reach a point where she will have to confront it, and will have to make a serious choice about it.

When she thinks she has made a decision, something unexpected will happen. And new friends will come to her aid to assist her.
