Stonegate Correctional (previously Stonegate Penitentiary) is a facility built into a rocky island off the coast of Heldencoast City run by A.E.G.I.S. meant to house and hold superpowered criminals.
It was once a feared to the point criminals would try any sort of plea to avoid being sent there. Oftentimes representatives in press conferences would state its unofficial motto "You check in; you don't check out". However, after her sudden betrayal of a guard later known as Lady Stonegate the facility has been completely revamped with a much more glass door policy.
The name change might seem novel but the philosophy and operations of the prison have shifted to be less about punishment and more for rehabilitation. Given that criminals seemed to often escape and end up repeat offenders, something had to give. Critics (namely the The Daily Slice) argue that this 'softening' of the penal system will do more harm than good, but many human rights advocates feel optimistic about the change.
Only time will tell.
The facility has a lot of state of the art security monitoring and suppressing systems with the aim to keep even the most powerful of supervillains within confinement while they serve their sentences.
