The real fortune are the friendships we make along the way
Camp Fortuna is a moderately-sized stayaway summer camp with the occasional off-season activities. The general range is 10-17 year olds. Often kids who age out will come back as counselors - and even volunteer to be a counselor even at an age where they could attend as a camper.
It has different intakes throughout the season. The most common, or default, camp is the 5-day/4-night camp from Monday-Friday. Kids stay in cabins based on ages and are often paired up with a "Camp Buddy" - a counselor who can show them the ropes, and be their go-to person in case of any situation including homesickness - in trios or duos when they're younger. The older kids get a bit more freedom and forego that system. Everyone picks an activity they do daily, then do scheduled activities with their cabin. Throughout each day they're also given options of what they want to do. Sometimes certain campers can have a more specialized schedule that foregoes this.
Though they have multiple intakes of about 300 campers, they keep in mind a camper's first intake to keep them with friends each year going forward unless otherwise requested to be put in a different slot. A lot of happy memories, and lifelong friendships have formed in this camp.
