Fang's actual name is Scarr Groundfang.
Originally this was a nickname behind his back which he took on with pride. Now, in Humblewood, most gnolls call him Scumcast.
He eventually converted to lichdom in an attempt to gain enough power to save the gnolls from the mind flayers (at the expense of everyone in Humblewood.)
This plan didn’t go o we well with the Butchers of Meadowfen, hence the status of dead
