The Forlorn Flames of Fyrashan are a fiery and desolate expanse, an enduring scar upon the world left by the Twilight of Creation. This region, situated between Norska and the southern Unknown, was once a verdant haven teeming with life and home to the enigmatic Unknown, a mystic race believed to be distant descendants of the ancient Mythar.
A Forsaken Past
The land of Fyrashan was not always a smoldering wasteland. Once lush and brimming with ethereal energy, it was revered as a bridge between the Prime Plane and Ethereal Plane, with the Fyrashan Spirit Seers serving as oracles of life and death. However, this harmony was obliterated during the Twilight of Creation, when an ancient Elementari—a titan of elemental fire—was felled by the Unknown during The Aeonic Struggle. The Elementari, known as Ignivar, unleashed its final wrath upon the land as it fell in battle. Its death ignited the land, creating a perpetual inferno that transformed the once-thriving region into the Forlorn Flames of Fyrashan.
The Fyrashan
The Fadhelin are a mystical and introspective people, said to be an occult offshoot of the Mytharil Empire. Unlike their ancient brethren, who sought dominion over the Riftways above all else, the Fyrashan focused on bridging the divide between the living and the dead. They are devoted worshippers of Deimos (God of Death) and Unknown (God of Life), embracing the delicate balance between mortality and eternity.
Spirit Seers of Fyrashan
At the heart of their culture are the Spirit Seers, mystic leaders who can traverse the boundary between the Prime and Ethereal Planes. These oracles guide the Fyrashan in their worship and help them navigate the spiritual scars left by Ignivar's fury. The Spirit Seers are chosen through rigorous trials that test their connection to the afterlife and their ability to withstand the searing heat of Fyrashan.
A Land Forlorn in Flame
The Forlorn Flames are a testament to Ignivor’s wrath. The land is characterized by:
- Rivers of molten magma crisscross the terrain, creating unpredictable and deadly paths.
- The air is choked with ash and smoke, shrouding the horizon in fiery remnants.
- The lingering essence of Ignivor occasionally manifests as volatile fire spirits that roam the land, attacking any who dare trespass.
Despite its hostility, the Fyrashan have learned to survive in this land, their ethereal connection allowing them to harness the residual energy of the Forlorn Flames. They build their sanctuaries within the cooled remnants of Ignivar’s heart, using their mystical powers to shield themselves from the unrelenting heat. Although the Fyrashan are often a nomadic people due to the unpredictable nature of their homeland, they have notably settled Unknown to the south of Mt. Ylvan and Mt. Ragnavar. This sanctuary was short lived, however, as the Chosen of Khaos unleashed Fralskjar, a rampaging Fire Giant whom destroyed the village in a tidal wave of magma.
Myths of The Mythar
The Fyrashan revere their lineage to the Mythar, yet their focus is inward and spiritual rather than imperial and arcane. Their efforts to maintain balance between life and death are both a tribute to their ancient ancestors and a rebellion against the destructive ambition that led to the First Continuum Crisis.
While they remain isolated in their scorched homeland, the Fyrashan Spirit Seers hold knowledge of life, death, and the planes that is unmatched. Their wisdom, sought after by scholars and adventurers alike, is carefully guarded, with only the most persistent seekers gaining their trust.
A Land of Ritual and Revelation
The Forlorn Flames of Fyrashan stand as a stark reminder of the balance between creation and destruction. Ignivar’s rage left the land broken, but the Fyrashan's enduring resilience ensures that its secrets and stories live on. This realm is as much a place of danger as it is a crucible for those seeking enlightenment, challenging any who dare to walk the fiery path between life and death.
