The School of the Phoenix is the most prestigious and battle-hardened branch of the Emris Adventuring Guild, known for producing valiant warriors, tenacious defenders, and indomitable heroes. Named for the legendary bird that rises from flame and ash, the school prizes strength, constitution, and unyielding resolve above all else. Its adventurers are the first to leap into danger, and the last to fall in battle.

Phoenix adventurers serve not only as paragons of martial discipline, but also as the formal guard of the guild itself. It is tradition that its most elite warriors are tasked with defending the campus, its libraries, relics, and—most importantly—its students. As such, the Phoenix bears both the sword and the shield of the guild’s legacy. Just like the other two schools, adventurers are selected to join the phoenix after the Headmaster evaluates their performance during the Trials of the Sun.

Training & Traditions

Members of the Phoenix school train rigorously in the Guild Fighting Pits, where honor duels, team skirmishes, and tactical sparring sessions form the cornerstone of their development. Here, raw strength is tested, refined through fire and sweat, and tempered by the camaraderie of battle.

Victory in these duels is not just a matter of pride—it is a rite of passage. The guild chronicles the names of those who distinguish themselves in the sand-swept arena, a sunken stone coliseum at the heart of the school, said to be blessed by the spirit of the phoenix itself.

Legacy

For many years, the Phoenix School was led by the legendary adventurer Talyen, whose unique blend of martial prowess, resilience, and fierce compassion made him the embodiment of the school’s ideals. He oversaw its rise to prominence during the guild’s golden era, until his mysterious disappearance following the fall of the Promythean.

Other famed Phoenix alumni include Kairus the Brass, Josu, Olond Galakin, and Thomm / Bar-Then the Kneebreaker (the schools two founders).

Today, the Phoenix School remains a pillar of the reformed Sunsations Adventuring Guild under Headmaster Professor Henry Endsworth, continuing to forge heroes who do not fear the fire—but become it.
