Lion of the East
NPC

A warrior forged in exile and crowned by his own resilient determination, Ramune embodied the strength of his Leonin ancestors with the vision of an architect who saw a brighter future. Steeled by loss and tempered by his own honor, he carried both the ferocity of the jungle and the discipline of a noble. Despite his imposing frame and feral wrath in battle, Ramune was a noble leader—measured in word, unwavering in duty, and driven by a sacred promise to his fallen kin.

The Path of Exile

Born the eldest son of his tribe’s elder in the jungles of Tigre, Ramune’s life was forever marked by the horror of the blood moon—the night Kul'Khan, the Primeval Titan and King of the Jungle, descended upon their camp in primal fury. His tribe perished in fire and fang, his brother Razam lost in the chaos (although, eventually was discovered to have survived by the aide of Ren-Li). Ramune alone survived, fleeing the jungle shadows with guilt clawing at his soul.

He traveled across the breadth of Osira, eventually kneeling before Ryujin Hattori, the Celestial Dragon Emperor of the Y’azi Empire, and pled for sanctuary. Granted refuge in the City of Hojo, he helped resettle the last survivors of his lineage and founded House Leone—later known as House Al-Leone in honor of Serrakhanian traditions in Shariz (where he would later venture).

Ramune’s legend grew further in The Sands of Serrakhan, where he ventured seeking allies capable of facing Kul’Khan. In Shariz, he earned fame as a pit fighter in the sun-baked arenas, besting monsters, mercenaries, and champions alike. His valor caught the eye of Sultan Hakim Atis, who appointed him Commander of the Sunsteel Legion, a role in which Ramune served with steadfast honor.

A Journey Home

Joined by fellow warriors Eremoz, Kairus the Brass, and the Sylvarin twins Zyla Nu Ten and Nika Nu Ten, Ramune embarked on a perilous voyage to the Jungles of Tigre, where he sought vengeance for the slaughter of his people. There, beneath the verdant canopy of his overgrown homeland, they tracked the ancient titan that had shattered their pasts.

Their hunt ended at the Temple of the Drowned Moon, where Saurus warlocks attempted to turn Kul’Khan into a vessel for the drowned god Unknown. The Sunsations fought bravely amidst collapsing stone, but Eremoz and Nika fell beneath the titan’s fury (see: Beneath the Blood Moon).

In a haunting moment of mourning and mercy, Kul’Khan, now freed, delivered the broken bodies of the fallen to the shoreline. As the sun rose over Dragon's Reach Bay, Ramune offered final rites, whispering words that echoed across the waters:

"That which was born in the jungle returns to it—no less fierce, no less noble. Let the tide carry your story to the stars."

Final Stand

Ramune’s tale did not end upon those sands. He would later join the Sunsations in their fated voyage to the Tomb of the Twin-Spirit upon The Isle of Ember, standing against Malekith and the Severed Shadow Valekith in a battle that would define the fifth age.

He fought with primeval fury beside his friends, heroes of the age, and even the elemental avatars. But even his might could not shield him from the psionic scream of Valekith’s rebirth. As the ascendant-being conjoined with Malekith’s fractured form, Ramune’s skull was shattered in a moment of catastrophic psychic pressure. His body fell—but his will did not.

Even in death, his memory fought on—his spirit etched into the memory of those he died to protect.

Legacy

Ramune Al-Leone’s tale is told across two continents: as the undefeated warrior in Shariz, and as the exiled son in the Y’azi Empire. Statues bearing his likeness stand in both Hojo and Shariz, and House Al-Leone remains a bastion of strength and heritage to the Jungles which it came from.

Where the jungle whispers in rustling leaves, where the arena echoes with the clash of steel, the name Ramune endures.

The Duel of Dawn

Emris Adventuring Guild

In a recent turn of events, Ramune Leone, Commander of The Sunsteel Legion in Shariz, found himself embroiled in a tense altercation with none other than Kairus the Brass, one of the fabled Primarchs of the Sun and heroes of The Sunsations. What began as a seemingly innocuous encounter quickly escalated into a duel of honor, steeped in tradition and ancient laws.

The confrontation was sparked by a cunning ploy orchestrated by Kairus, who feigned offense at Ramune's perceived disregard for his "wife." Appearing distressed, the disguised Losk the Wanderer sought aid from Ramune, only to be swiftly discarded by the nobleman. This interaction led to a heated exchange between the two, culminating in Kairus challenging Ramune to a duel based on the old laws of honor and chivalry.

According to the ancient laws invoked by Kairus, the victor of the duel would be granted the law of promise, entitling them to a favor at any time following the duel's conclusion. Despite the gravity of the situation, Ramune accepted the challenge, recognizing the significance of the opportunity presented to him.

At dawn the following day, amidst the hushed whispers of onlookers, Ramune and Kairus squared off in a display of skill and valor. The clash of steel echoed across the battleground as the combatants engaged in a fierce struggle for supremacy. The duel was short but brutal, with both adversaries unleashing their full might in a bid for victory.

As the dust settled and the combatants lay locked in combat, Ramune found himself poised to deliver a potentially fatal blow to Kairus. However, in a moment of clarity and restraint, he stayed his hand, realizing that he had finally met a worthy opponent.

In a gesture of respect and adherence to the ancient laws, Ramune offered the law of promise to Kairus, stating that he would afford him the favor he sought if he aided him in his quest to hunt down the mighty Tarrasque that had claimed the lives of his ancestors. Thus, a tentative alliance was formed between two formidable warriors, bound by honor and the pursuit of a common goal.
