Pyros, the Father of Frenzied Flame, is the elemental deity of Energy within the Pantheon of Primus, embodying the essence of pure heat and light. Born from the radiant essence of Ignis, the Eldari of Energy, Pyros serves as protector of the Plane of Ignis, a realm of incandescent brilliance that serves as the source of all energy within the Continuum Crystal Cosmology. Pyros’s boundless radiance fuels the stars, the lifeblood of the cosmos, and sustains the delicate balance of energy across all planes of existence.
Divine Form and Function
Pyros is a being of immeasurable power and radiant light, a manifestation of the raw energy that permeates the cosmos. His true form has never been witnessed by mortal eyes, for it would incinerate anything that dared approach and would shatter the minds of those unworthy to gaze upon his infinite brilliance. Even the Avatars of the Sun and the Solar Drake, his direct creations, can only glimpse his divine form through visions granted by his will.
Legends describe Pyros as an immense and unfathomable figure composed entirely of radiant light. His "body" is said to contain an infinite number of golden arms that temper and toil upon a central core—his heart—made of pure, star-brilliant energy. From this heart emanates a blinding beam of radiant light so intense that it makes up the very imagery of his being. His presence is the embodiment of creation and destruction, as his energy gives life to the stars yet holds the power to incinerate entire worlds.
The Plane of Ignis
The Plane of Ignis is Pyros’s eternal domain, a realm of searing radiance and infinite heat. It is a vast, star-like expanse where oceans of molten fire swirl and celestial flames dance across an endless horizon. The sheer intensity of the realm makes it uninhabitable for all but Pyros himself and his celestial progeny.
Ignis is not only the source of the stars in the cosmos but also the origin of all energy within the Continuum Crystal Cosmology. Its raw power fuels the Riftways, permeating the elemental planes and the Prime Plane with the life-giving heat and energy essential for creation.
Father of Frenzied Flame
As with the other elemental primus gods, Pyros cannot fully manifest on the Prime Plane. His presence would destabilize the delicate balance of the cosmos, flooding the material world with energy so overwhelming it would lead to cataclysmic destruction. Instead, Pyros exerts his influence indirectly through his Archon Ember and the Cycle of Sun Avatars, who act as his stewards and protectors of the Sunstone, one of the Worldstones which connects Ignis to The Sun Realm.
Through his Archon, Ember, the radiant phoenix, Pyros ensures that his will is enacted upon the Prime Plane. The Sun Avatars, selected every 3,000 to 4,000 years, embody his essence and safeguard the elemental harmony of energy within the material realm.
Pyros is the progenitor of the Solar Drakes, majestic dragons of light and fire shaped from his radiant essence. These celestial beings once served as guardians of the Sunstone and teachers of Sun-Rifting magic to the Solir civilization of Itela.
The Sunstone, an artifact of immeasurable power, anchors the Plane of Ignis to the Prime Plane, allowing energy to flow seamlessly through the Riftways and sustain life across the cosmos. Pyros’s influence can be seen in every sunrise, every flame, and every star in the night sky.
Avatars of The Sun
Pyros’s will is most directly expressed through the Cycle of Sun Avatars, chosen mortals who embody his power and serve as stewards of the Sun Realm. Notable Avatars include:
- Avatar Rozan, the first Avatar, who united the Sun Realm and forged the Solir civilization of Itela.
- Avatar Lumina, whose golden age of enlightenment ended in tragedy when she fell to Malekith's treachery, leading to the Sun Realm's sundering.
Legacy and Mythology
Pyros is revered as the eternal flame, the giver of light and warmth, and the destroyer of darkness. His worship is central to the Solir’s culture, with elaborate rituals and festivals dedicated to the sun and its life-giving radiance.
Despite the devastation wrought by Malekith, who usurped the Sunstone and cursed the Solir, Pyros’s legacy endures through the flames of hope kindled by his Avatars and the eternal light of the sun.
"To look upon Pyros is to behold the birth of stars and the end of worlds. His light is creation, his heat is life, and his brilliance is eternity." – Avatar Rozan
