Weekly News From Many Places

The Weekly News From Many Places (WNMP) is a government broadsheet created on order of the king. The news is written, approved and published by a government executive office, with the intention of informing (or distracting) citizens with the news from around the world. The news is generally positive when it comes to the state of the world. The paper tends to twist and bend information to support, enforce, or change foreign policy objectives. It's a mouthpiece of the king, who is sometimes at odds with The Assembly, making it a place to air some local high level grievances the king wishes everyone in the world to see.

The sage, Vop Verstappen, has a regular "column" in the broadsheet, where he pontificates on various countries he may or may not have knowledge about.

There is a section of the broadsheet for local news, with a WNMP agent assigned to each district to report. That individual is also responsible for all the business elements of the paper, such as collections, distribution, and other administrative tasks.

Because news is considered crucial to an informed public, the broadsheet is distributed newspapers to subscribers for 1 copper piece within the city, 2 copper pieces to locations on the Island of Moog, and a silver piece to locations beyond.

The WNMP representative in the Kerkhof Ferry District is a dour drow named Mirkspire Nightthorn. He's part administrator, part delivery boy, part reporter. He's rarely at his desk, so leave a note. He was gathering information in Sultanate of Sahar when he was booted for something insulting he wrote. He now collects local news, most of which is ignored and runs the district office. He broke the news of the missing adventurer, Clement Schoonoven, which was upset the Schoonoven family, but was considered necessary in hopes of his return.
