Crystal Technology

The Walraven Consortium decision to license the crystal technology to three houses in Seregon has created a competitive and specialized market for these powerful and versatile crystals. Each house has carved out its niche, contributing to the development of Seregon's advanced technology, particularly in airship engineering.

Key Crystal Types:

  • Lumin Crystals: Emit light and are the most common. They power street lights and other low-energy needs. These crystals are essential for everyday life in Seregon.
  • Gauntlet Crystals: Produce a massive blast of destructive energy, used in hand-held weaponry.
  • Weapon Crystals: Larger versions of gauntlet crystals, used in ether cannons and other ship-based weaponry.
  • Lift “Starfire” Crystals: Create an anti-gravity effect, crucial for airship propulsion. These are the most expensive and rare. See Starfire Crystal
  • Trim Crystals: Allow for fine maneuverability in airships, complementing the lift crystals.
  • Core Crystals: Regulate electricity and power entire airship systems.

The Three Competing Houses:

  1. House Schoonoven:
    • Specialties: Lift “Starfire” crystals and Trim crystals.
    • Strengths: Their crystals are the most advanced, making them leaders in airship technology.
  2. House Hendriks:
    • Specialties: Core crystals and Lumin crystals.
    • Strengths: They dominate the market for power systems and general lighting, with a broader market reach.
  3. House Achthoven:
    • Specialties: Weapon crystals for ether cannons and gauntlet crystals.
    • Strengths: They focus on military applications, providing advanced weaponry for airship defense.

The competition between these houses drives innovation but also ensures that Seregon's technological edge remains secure. The rarity and difficulty of growing high-end crystals, particularly the “Starfire” crystals, make them highly sought after and a significant investment for anyone looking to operate a state-of-the-art airship.
