Keel and Crystal is an airship repair shop located in the Old Knot District of Seregon. Owned by Madreas Thoram, a nearly 350-year-old dwarf, the shop is housed in a pentagon-shaped stone tower of intricate dwarven construction, overlooking the Tower of Black Flame. It can dock up to five airships simultaneously.
Madreas, along with a team of a dozen dwarves—mostly family members—handles repairs of all sorts, including the intricate work of fixing Starfire Crystals. While it's impossible to fully restore a broken crystal, Madreas uses a unique method he calls "empathic" damage repair, utilizing psionics to bind small chips and cracks, extending the crystal's life, though it will eventually shatter. The The Walraven Consortium is studying his techniques and sharing the results with the vatteries.
Though Madreas dreams of reclaiming the Thoram Emerald Mine, he doesn't seek out adventurers to help with this task. However, his younger kin, who are less content with merely patching up airships, are eager to find capable adventurers who can assist in reclaiming the mine, located at Thoram Bay, on the Island of Moog, opposite Seregon.

Madreas Thoram is a venerable dwarf who has lived through both triumph and tragedy. Having seen his older kin slaughtered in the ill-fated Thoram Emerald Mine, Madreas channeled his grief into building a successful airship repair business, Keel and Crystal, in the bustling Old Knot District of Seregon. Over the centuries, he has become a figure of quiet pride and deep sadness, his long life marked by the burdens of loss and the weight of responsibility.
Madreas gave up the prospect of a family to focus on his work, and now his younger kin have become his surrogate family. He fiercely wants to keep them safe, away from the dangers of the world, particularly the very mine that claimed so many of their ancestors. While Madreas is a cautious and protective figure, his fear for his kin’s safety is balanced by a willingness to justly reward those who can solve the problems that haunt him—particularly if they can secure the future he’s fought so hard to build.
