Aarndrak the Black Dragon

Aarndrak the Black Dragon: Power-Hungry Tyrant of the Moog Basin

Aarndrak, a black dragon of fearsome reputation, emerged from the Moog Basin deep within the untamed jungles. Around the time of the Amber Fever outbreak, this cunning and ambitious dragon began terrorizing Seregon, using the kingdom's weakened state to his advantage. What set Aarndrak apart from others of his kind was not an insatiable hunger for gold and silver, but a thirst for magical power. Instead of demanding wealth as tribute, Aarndrak desired ancient relics and arcane knowledge, making him all the more dangerous.

Aarndrak’s Rise in Seregon

During the desperate days of Amber Fever, when Seregon was brought to its knees by the deadly plague, Aarndrak saw his opportunity to strike. Seregon, unable to mount a true defense, resorted to appeasement. The wizards of Seregon, understanding Aarndrak’s unique desires, pointed the dragon toward ancient ruins scattered across the land. They hoped that by feeding his hunger for magic, they could distract him from the kingdom itself.

Aarndrak, seemingly a young dragon at the time, accepted their offerings of forgotten ruins and arcane artifacts. He spent years scouring these locations, gathering magical trinkets and relics from long-forgotten civilizations. His hoard grew not in gold or gems, but in magical rings, amulets, and enchanted items—powerful artifacts that enhanced his already considerable might. Over time, Aarndrak’s strength and knowledge grew, and sightings of him along the coast became more frequent.

Though Aarndrak has accosted mercenary shipments of gems and valuables, he has shown little interest in what he dismisses as mere "baubles." Instead, he seeks powerful magic, showing a particular interest in adventurers returning from the jungle with relics and spells. The dragon is resplendent in magical adornments, each item serving to enhance his already considerable arcane abilities.

The Immortals of Karsis' Encounter

The Immortals of Karsis, a group of dragon aficionados, claim Aarndrak is not the young dragon Seregon first believed, but a fully grown adult. When they encountered him, Aarndrak was draped in magic rings, amulets, and enchanted jewelry, his entire presence humming with arcane energy. Though the Immortals engaged Aarndrak, they quickly realized his obsession with magic far surpassed any desire to dominate them with brute force. Instead of attacking them outright, Aarndrak probed for information, seeking new sources of magical power to augment his collection.
