Immortals of Karsis

Perhaps 800 of those are on the Island of Moog. The city closely monitors their numbers, restricting the number of immortals allowed to settle in the city. They are welcome here, but over time.

Half of the Immortals of Karsis are doing private work, such as bodyguards for powerful families (See Okoria Karselridrith (Okkie)). They seem to have an easier time doing this than finding larger contracts. They do have some contracts though:

The Immortals of Karsis, known as the Dragonborn, are a legacy of a fallen empire that once spanned vast territories. Created through the essence of dragon eggs and the arcane arts of Emperor Karsis the Great's council of wizards, these Dragonborn were bred to be the ultimate warriors—loyal, powerful, and incorruptible. Over generations, they have upheld the only tradition they know: to be the finest warriors for the Kingdom of Bamasuj. Even though Bamasuj now lies in ruins, overrun by zombies and forgotten by most, the Dragonborn continue to live by the code instilled in them since birth.

They shine their armor, sharpen their weapons, and engage in rigorous training, maintaining their martial prowess even as the world around them has changed. They walk proudly, their draconic features marking them as beings apart from the rest of the world. The scales, horns, and fierce eyes of the Dragonborn are unmistakable, and they carry themselves with the dignity and pride of their draconic heritage. Yet, for all their nobility, they are often met with fear and incomprehension by those who remember the atrocities committed under Karsis' reign.

The Dragonborn Immortals are divided into ten Dragonflights, each associated with a different color, symbolizing the variety and specialization within their ranks. These colors are not merely for show; they represent the different aspects of their training and the roles they were designed to fulfill. Some Dragonflights excel in warfare, others in magic, and some in the protection of the realms. Despite their differences, all Dragonborn share a deep bond, knowing that they are the only ones of their kind, created by Karsis and his wizards.

Within their ranks, the Dragonborn are a diverse lot. Some remain faithful to the memory of Karsis, still serving the idea of the kingdom that created them. They continue to act as defenders of Bamasuj, even though it no longer exists, wandering the land in search of threats to vanquish. Others, longing for a connection to their origins, seek out true dragons, hoping to find a sense of belonging and understanding of their draconic nature. Some Dragonborn have become mercenaries, lending their formidable skills to the highest bidder, while others are soldiers in the great wars that continue to rage across the land.

However, not all Dragonborn are so sure of their purpose. Some find themselves adrift, lost in a world that no longer has a place for them. These Dragonborn struggle to find meaning in their lives, haunted by the legacy of a kingdom that no longer exists.

The myth of the Dragonborn's incorruptibility was shattered at the end of King Karsis reign. Rumors persist of a betrayal that allowed the downfall of Bamasuj. A Loxodon advisor named Ravana is said to have enticed Turnuroth the Turncoat, a Dragonborn of the Black Dragonflight, to open the gates of the capital in exchange for the promise of freedom for his kin. While Ravana raided the vaults of the Bamasuj Guild of Wizards, the kingdom fell into chaos, leading to its ultimate demise. Whether Turnuroth acted out of genuine desire for freedom or was manipulated by Ravana remains a subject of debate among the Dragonborn, but the betrayal left a stain on their legacy that has yet to be washed away.

Now, as they wander a world that both fears and reveres them, the Dragonborn of the Immortals of Karsis continue to seek their place, holding fast to the traditions of their ancestors while grappling with the uncertainties of their future.

Role and Purpose

The Immortals of Karsis maintain their dragonflight heritage through rigorous training, ancient rituals, and a strict code of honor. Each dragonborn within the order is aligned with one of these dragonflights, embodying its principles and abilities. They view themselves as the last guardians of a lost age, striving to preserve the wisdom and power of the dragons in a world that has moved on without them.

The Immortals are scattered across various strongholds, each one reflecting the characteristics of its dominant dragonflight. These strongholds are often hidden, accessible only to those who possess the knowledge or lineage to find them. The Immortals of Karsis see their mission as twofold: to protect the legacy of the dragonflights and to influence the world in subtle but significant ways, ensuring that the ancient dragons' wisdom is never truly lost.
