Empire of Bamasuj

Including:

  • Satrapy of Baghabadia
  • Satrapy of Golshamia
  • Satrapy of Gorgabrizia
  • Duchy of Durcupilia

The Empire of Bamasuj, once a formidable realm under the rule of Emperor Karsis the Great, had a rich history of conquest and defense. With three distant satrapies to manage, Golshamia, Baghabadia, and Gorgabrizia, Karsis needed warriors who were not only brave but also incorruptible and fiercely loyal. His solution was both ambitious and ingenious: the creation of the Dragonborn, a new race of Immortals formed from the essence of dragon eggs.

These Dragonborn, dubbed Immortals of Karsis, were designed to be the ultimate defenders of Bamasuj, embodying the strength, wisdom, and magical prowess of the dragons. Each was trained in various disciplines, from swordsmanship to arcane arts, making them versatile and nearly unstoppable on the battlefield. Immortals was the name given to an elite heavy infantry unit of 10,000 soldiers

However, as Amber Fever swept across the empire, the once-mighty Bamasuj began to crumble. Despite the Dragonborn's unwavering dedication, the empire eventually fell in 575. Some say, in an unexpected act of gratitude, Emperor Karsis freed his Dragonborn Immortals, allowing them to choose their own paths after the fall of the empire.

Now, these Immortals wander the lands, their loyalties no longer bound to a single ruler but to the people they encounter. They fight the undead, protect the innocent, and some even seek to start new lives in safe havens like Seregon. Yet, their past as the Immortals of Karsis remains a defining part of their identity, a legacy of an empire that, though fallen, lives on through their actions and honor.

Stigma

Though the Empire of Bamasuj is long gone, the memory of its conquests and the suffering it inflicted endures. Emperor Karsis the Great was revered by his people as a brilliant strategist and a powerful ruler, but to those who lived under the heel of his empire, he was a tyrant whose wars brought devastation and despair. The Dragonborn, created to be his ultimate enforcers, are inextricably linked to this legacy.

For many who suffered under Karsis' rule, the sight of a Dragonborn stirs deep, visceral memories. These warriors, with their imposing stature and draconic features, are reminders of the fear and oppression that marked Karsis's reign. Even in peaceful settings, such as a coffee shop in Seregon, a refugee from one of Bamasuj's former satrapies might freeze in fear upon encountering an Immortal of Karsis. To them, the Dragonborn are not heroes or protectors but living symbols of the empire that shattered their lives.

This stigma weighs heavily on the Dragonborn, many of whom are aware of the fear and mistrust they inspire. Though they were created for noble purposes and many now strive to atone for the sins of their past, the shadows of Bamasuj's atrocities are long, and forgiveness is hard to come by. As they roam the lands, these Immortals carry not only their swords and spells but also the burden of a history that refuses to be forgotten.
