Cadence, a male Tabaxi bard from the Harbour District of Seregon, is a spirited and charismatic figure, always with an ear tuned to the stories brought in from the farthest reaches of the seas. Born and raised in the bustling city, he is a self-taught musician and scholar, having woven his love for the sea into his music and tales. While many of the city’s residents fixate on the news and gossip delivered by airship, Cadence’s heart lies with the sailors who brave the tumultuous seas. He’s a familiar face at the docks, always ready to charm a story or sea shanty out of the latest crew. His curiosity is infectious, and few can resist his playful prodding for the next great tale of adventure.
Though Cadence plays the part of the carefree storyteller, there’s more depth to him than meets the eye. His fascination with lore, especially the Ziggurat of Zoth-Ommog beneath the Lighthouse of Valka, has led him to dangerous places. He’s already ventured into the ziggurat once, though he was turned back by its fearsome magical wards. Undeterred, Cadence continues to seek out anyone in Seregon who holds any scrap of knowledge about the ziggurats, luring them in with the promise of coffee and a captivating story. Beyond his city and its mysteries, he holds a wealth of knowledge about Elephant Island and Ren Sharr, a perilous city notorious for its slave trade. Ever the sentimentalist, Cadence carries his beloved guitar, Marlene, treating it as his constant companion and muse, with whom he shares his every thought and note.
