Gnoll Greater Pack Lord

Thraask Bloodtide – Gnoll Greater Pack Lord

Thraask Bloodtide is the savage and bloodthirsty Greater Pack Lord of a powerful gnoll warband that has been harassing ships and trade routes along the Lula River, disrupting commerce and supply lines to the city of Seregon. Reporting directly to the malevolent entity known as The Red Flux, Thraask serves as an enforcer and war leader in the Red Flux’s growing network of chaos and destruction. Thraask and his gnoll raiders have made the Tomb of Eternal Dawn their primary base of operations, using the ancient and cursed site as a staging ground for attacks on the river and beyond.

Appearance

Thraask Bloodtide stands taller and more imposing than most gnolls, with a hunched, brutish form rippling with muscle. His matted fur is a sickly yellow and brown, streaked with dried blood and battle scars. His eyes burn with a feral, red gleam—marked by the dark influence of The Red Flux. Thraask wears a patchwork of scavenged armor, torn from the bodies of his victims, including pieces of leather, chainmail, and bones. His most fearsome feature is his massive, jagged battle axe, crafted from black iron and adorned with crude symbols of blood and death.

Around his neck hangs a grim collection of trophies—severed hands, skulls, and trinkets taken from the ships and soldiers he has slaughtered. Thraask’s snarling maw constantly drips with saliva, his sharp teeth exposed in a perpetual grin of bloodlust. His voice is a guttural growl, filled with a sadistic hunger for violence.

Personality and Tactics

Thraask Bloodtide is driven by an insatiable need to dominate, destroy, and feast on the suffering of others. He is a ruthless war leader, viewing his gnoll warband as mere tools to be sacrificed in his endless quest for blood and chaos. Under the influence of The Red Flux, Thraask has become even more brutal, showing a disturbing reverence for the entity’s dark power. He believes that by continuing to serve the Red Flux’s destructive agenda, he will be granted greater power and become the ultimate alpha of all gnolls.

In combat, Thraask is a relentless and cunning adversary. He prefers to strike fast and hard, using the natural ferocity and speed of his gnolls to overwhelm his enemies. When attacking ships on the Lula River, Thraask’s warband will wait in ambush, using the cover of night and the surrounding wilderness to their advantage. His tactics often involve boarding ships suddenly and slaughtering the crew before they can mount any defense, taking whatever valuables they can and setting the ships ablaze.

At his base in the Tomb of Eternal Dawn, Thraask oversees his gnoll raiders, keeping a watchful eye on the nearby river and the approaches to Seregon. The tomb, once a sacred resting place, has become a foul and desecrated den for Thraask’s warband. The gnolls maintain the tomb’s defenses, but they also use it to store the spoils from their raids and as a place to regroup and plan future attacks. Thraask has also begun to experiment with the undead forces provided by The Red Flux, using the tomb’s cursed magic to bolster his forces with skeletal minions.

Thraask Bloodtide's Role in The Red Flux's Plans

Thraask Bloodtide is an important part of The Red Flux’s strategy to destabilize and weaken Seregon. By harassing trade along the Lula River, he disrupts the city’s supply lines and sows fear among merchants and travelers. His raids are meant to cripple the economy and erode confidence in Seregon’s ability to defend its borders. Meanwhile, his occupation of the Tomb of Eternal Dawn serves as a strategic staging ground for future assaults deeper into the region.

While Thraask revels in the violence he inflicts, his service to The Red Flux is driven by a combination of fear and ambition. He believes that by continuing to please the Red Flux, he will be granted more power, and perhaps even the leadership of all gnoll tribes in the region. However, Thraask knows that failure is not an option—The Red Flux has no tolerance for weakness, and Thraask’s life hangs by a thread as long as he serves this malevolent force.

Base of Operations: The Tomb of Eternal Dawn

The Tomb of Eternal Dawn, once a revered burial site, has been desecrated by Thraask’s gnolls and now serves as their staging base. The tomb, a crumbling relic of an ancient civilization, sits hidden in a dense forest near the Lula River. Its grand stone archways and once-sacred crypts have been defiled by gnoll graffiti, bloodstains, and the bones of Thraask’s enemies. The natural dark magic that permeates the tomb has begun to animate some of the dead, and Thraask has embraced this as a gift from The Red Flux.

The tomb's defensive measures are rudimentary but effective: gnoll scouts and lookouts patrol the surrounding woods, while Thraask himself leads from within, ready to unleash his pack on any who dare approach. Inside the tomb, gnoll warriors, undead minions, and traps await any intruders. The tomb’s cursed magic has also given Thraask a stronghold to summon reinforcements from the Red Flux’s corrupted ranks, allowing him to maintain a steady pressure on Seregon’s defenses.

Motivation for Thraask Bloodtide

Thraask Bloodtide is driven by an insatiable hunger for power and status, seeking not only to prove himself among his own kind but to rise within the ranks of the dark forces stirring in Seregon. Though currently employed by The Red Flux, he aspires to serve Van Droth directly, seeing the wizard as a being of unmatched ambition who could bring Seregon to its knees. Thraask believes his brutal cunning and ability to command fearsome gnoll cultists make him uniquely suited to be Van Droth's lieutenant.

To prove his value, Thraask has devised a twisted plan. In his lair, where a shrine to Hadregash dominates the cavern, Thraask has gathered three gnoll cultists to perform a summoning ritual. His aim is to call forth a powerful Far Realm creature to unleash on Kishar Fields, the agricultural heart of Seregon’s food supply, roughly 30 miles away. Thraask hopes the ensuing destruction will cripple the city’s resources and demonstrate his tactical genius and loyalty to Van Droth.

Letter from Thraask Bloodtide to Van Droth

To the Esteemed Van Droth, Grand Wizard of the Arcane Octad,

Mighty Van Droth, whose will shapes and shatters cities, I write to offer you a display of my loyalty and power, proof of what I can bring to your side as a lieutenant.

As a servant of the Red Flux, I have gained knowledge and strength, but my true purpose lies in serving a master of far greater vision. You. I am prepared to prove myself by unleashing a terror that will bring Seregon to its knees.

In my lair, beneath the shadow of Hadregash’s own shrine, I have gathered my most devoted cultists to summon an entity known as the Maw of Hadregash—a beast from the depths of the Far Realm, capable of reducing entire settlements to ruin. Once it is unleashed, I will send this creature upon Kishar Fields, the city’s precious breadbasket. The people of Seregon will watch in horror as their food supplies are devoured, their fields laid to waste.

Let the Maw’s destruction be my tribute to you, a testament to my dedication and ability to carry out your will with precision and savagery. As your lieutenant, I will command my gnolls and any forces you wish to entrust to me with unwavering loyalty. I ask only that you allow me this chance to prove myself, so that together, we might spread your dominion over Seregon and beyond.

Your ever-loyal servant,
Thraask Bloodtide, Pack Leader of the Red Flux

With this letter, Thraask seeks to impress Van Droth, believing that the summoning of a powerful Far Realm creature and the strategic blow to Seregon’s food supply will prove his cunning, ambition, and worthiness to stand at Van Droth’s side.
