Kishar Fields: The Breadbasket of Seregon
Note: Charter of Exploration is required for adventurers to enter. Enforced by the Ithosian Talons. One can be purchased for 50gp
Location:
Kishar Fields is a massive, six mile diameter, walled farming complex located 40 miles upriver from Seregon, along the Lula River and across from Greylight Overlook. This vital agricultural hub is responsible for producing 76% of the Wukka Grass, milled into flour, and baked into injera bread for the city’s population, while also harvesting valuable Wukka Nuts.
The clerics of Kishar, known as Harvest Wardens, run the farm and provide its security. It has imposing stone walls and the river is diverted to form a moat around it. Ithosian Talons mercenaries guard the walls. The farm is a stronghold of both agriculture and defense.
The harvest is ongoing, timed so the three mills can process flour continuously, with a large river boat picking up 200 tons of flour every four days.
High Priest and Clerical Leadership:
High Priest:
Willem van Grootveld (Human, Male)
As the High Priest of Kishar, Willem van Grootveld is a towering figure of both physical and spiritual strength. He oversees the farm’s operations with the calm wisdom of someone who understands that the rhythm of the land must be respected. His weathered face, framed by thick salt-and-pepper hair, reflects his decades of service to Kishar. Willem’s eyes, sharp and calculating, are constantly assessing the balance between nature and the needs of the people of Seregon. Despite the challenges of running such a large farm, Willem maintains a quiet, commanding presence, inspiring both respect and loyalty from those who serve under him. He is known for his practicality and devotion to the goddess Kishar, with a deep understanding of agricultural cycles, spiritual rituals, and defense strategies.
- Personality:
Calm, strategic, and pragmatic. He prioritizes the farm's smooth operation and the safety of those within the walls, but is always mindful of the balance between nature and civilization.
Underlings:
Arend de Vries (Human, Male)
One of Willem’s most trusted lieutenants, Arend is a diligent and disciplined Harvest Warden responsible for the security and overall upkeep of the walled complex. His keen sense of organization ensures that the farm runs like clockwork, from planting to harvesting. Arend is a strong, silent type, with short blonde hair and a muscular build. He is usually found overseeing the Ithosian Talons, ensuring the walls are properly manned and that the Zorbos are kept in check. Arend’s tactical mind and unshakable loyalty to Willem make him indispensable to the farm’s leadership.
- Personality:
Quiet, serious, and efficient. Arend is deeply focused on ensuring the farm’s defenses remain intact, often leading patrols to clear zorbos from the area and coordinating with the treants.
Eryndor Mirithal (Elf, Male)
An elven druid and one of the Harvest Wardens, Eryndor Mirithal tends to the spiritual and natural harmony of Kishar Fields. Eryndor’s long, silver hair flows in contrast to his deep connection with the Wukka trees and their surrounding ecosystem. With a gentle voice and an ancient elven wisdom, he acts as the mediator between the clerics, druids, and visiting treants. He helps ensure that the land is treated with respect and that the farm’s bounty continues to sustain Seregon. Eryndor is also heavily involved in the relocation of zorbos, using his magic and nature’s guidance to work with the treants.
- Personality:
Compassionate and attuned to nature, but firm when necessary. Eryndor is patient and serene, advocating for balance between the demands of agriculture and the natural world.
Notable Features of Kishar Fields:
The Temple of Kishar:
At the heart of Kishar Fields stands the grand Temple of Kishar, dedicated to the goddess of harvest and nature. The temple is a place of worship for the Harvest Wardens and a center for rituals that ensure the health of the Wukka trees and the success of the harvest. The temple’s stone walls are carved with intricate depictions of Kishar’s blessings, the changing seasons, and the cycles of life.
The Wall and Towers:
Encircling the complex is a massive wall—60 feet tall on the outside and 20 feet tall from the inside, with 30-foot-wide battlements. Stone towers and barracks for the Ithosian Talons are spaced 1 to 2 miles apart, providing 18 strategic defense points for the guards (162 in towers). The towers also house large ballistae for long-range defense, often used to ward off zorbos or other jungle threats. A total of 318 Ithosian Talons reside at Kishar Farms.
The Docks:
Kishar Fields has a small dock along the Lula River, which remains mostly quiet. However. With one shipment every four days, and a four day trip to Kishar Fields, travelers up river will always encounter sometime during their trip, a flour transport boat going up the river and one coming down.
Zorbo Threats:
The biggest challenge facing Kishar Fields is the presence of zorbos, small, carnivorous creatures that nest in the Wukka trees. These dangerous animals have an unusual ability to draw on their surroundings to become tougher, sometimes absorbing the protective aspects of armor and magical items and rendering them to dust. Zorbo infestations are a constant issue, with as many as a dozen of the creatures living in a single tree, posing a deadly threat to the workers. The treants, who act as guardians of the forest, have taken on the role of relocating zorbos when possible, but the process is slow, and some zorbos inevitably slip through.
Notable Locations within Kishar Fields:
The Wheat & Willow Inn:
A rustic inn where workers, travelers, and Ithosian Talon mercenaries can find a good meal and rest after a long day. The Wheat & Willow is known for its hospitality and hearty Wukka-based dishes, including Injera bread and Wukka stew. It is run by Hendrik van Roeselare, a jovial innkeeper who knows every worker by name and has a story for every season.
The Greenforge Brewery:
Located near the central square of the farm, the Greenforge Brewery specializes in crafting Wukka Ale, a drink brewed from the fermented fruit of the Wukka tree. It is an essential part of the farm’s culture, and the ale is celebrated for its mildly energizing properties. The brewery is run by Tanneke Mulder, a no-nonsense brewmaster who prides herself on the quality of the product.
The Crescent Oak Abbey:
A serene retreat where the Harvest Wardens and visiting druids conduct rituals to Kishar. The Crescent Oak Abbey is a center of spirituality and meditation, nestled under the ancient boughs of a towering oak tree believed to be sacred to the goddess. The abbey is also where clerics gather to strategize on how to handle the farm’s growing challenges with nature and its predators.
- Heathhaven District
Located on the northeastern side of Kishar Fields, Hearthhaven is a large residential district specifically built to house the 1,800 farmers who tend to the Wukka Trees and manage the Wukka Grass fields. It is an essential part of the farm's infrastructure, ensuring the workforce has everything they need to live and work efficiently. The district is a self-sufficient area within Kishar Fields, with its own amenities, public spaces, and services.
The Golden Bough Market:
A small but bustling marketplace inside the walls of Kishar Fields. The Golden Bough Market sells everything from wukka flour to locally made tools and gear for farming. It serves the workers of the farm and the nearby garrison and often receives traders from Seregon during the harvest season.
The Riverturn Mill
Location:
Nestled on the banks of the Lula River at the heart of Kishar Fields, the Riverturn Mill is a grand structure that harnesses the steady flow of the river to grind Wukka Grass into the life-sustaining Wukka flour. Situated near the quiet dock, the mill is an essential part of the farm’s operations, particularly during harvest season when the demand for flour reaches its peak.

Treants and Their Role:
Kishar Fields is home to several treants, ancient and powerful tree-like beings who watch over the Wukka trees and assist the clerics in managing the farm. The treants take a particular interest in relocating zorbos, as the creatures not only pose a danger to the workers but also threaten the health of the Wukka trees. The treants are slow to act but methodical, preferring to move zorbos to other areas of the jungle where they pose less of a threat. Their ancient wisdom and connection to the land make them indispensable allies to the Harvest Wardens.
