Ambrosius

Dead
Former High Priest of Asura

“The sun may rise, but some shadows are too deep to flee.”

Race: Human
Age: Late 60s
Alignment (Public): Lawful Good
Apparent Role: Retired Cleric, Scholar Emeritus of Asura's Flame
Known Titles: Flamebearer Emeritus, Keeper of the Ember Record
Current Status: In seclusion within the Temple of the Flame, Camp Dragon

Public Persona: Once a beloved figure in Camp Dragon, Ambrosius was known for his stern wisdom, deep compassion, and booming laugh that echoed through the temple halls at dawn. He was a firebrand in his prime—a spiritual guide whose words kindled hope, and whose healing touch was said to bless crops and soothe the dying. Many credit him with helping the temple flourish during the darker years.

In recent months, however, Ambrosius has withdrawn from public view. Following a “grave illness,” he stepped down from his duties, passing leadership to the young and radiant Marij Lang. She speaks highly of her predecessor and asks the faithful to pray for his health and peace of mind.

Notable Traits:

  • Appearance: Once tall and proud, Ambrosius now stoops with weariness. His once-golden robes are dusty and frayed, though he still wears the sunburst sigil of Asura close to his heart. His hair has thinned, and his eyes seem to flicker between lucidity and fevered trance.
  • Demeanor: Alternates between moments of silent, haunted focus and bouts of mumbling to unseen forces. Sometimes offers strange, poetic warnings or cryptic wisdom that make uncanny sense.
  • Access: The temple discourages visitors, but acolytes say he’s “at peace and prefers solitude.” Anyone persistent enough might be allowed a brief audience—under Marij’s supervision.
