Hag

Hags were horrible witches of wicked intent native to the Unseelie Vivid Realms, often hailing from the Unseelie Court. Equal parts hideous and heinous, hags embodied what it meant to be ugly inside and out, taking on the forms of unsightly women. When hags were uninterested in bargaining and were simply looking for someone to harm for whatever reason, they often did so in the guise of human or demihuman females. Whether young or old, hags would magically disguise themselves to have a non-threatening appearance. In truth, hags appeared as withered crones with warty skin, gnarled limbs, and yellowed teeth that dripped with venomous saliva.

They were the antithesis of Feywild natives like the Eladrin, for they were warped reflections of civilized beings that epitomized nature at its most repugnant. They often made lairs in haunted swamps, cursed forests, or desolate moors. Their lairs, especially if home to powerful "grandmother" hag, were protected by traps, illusions, and other magical defenses, making them dangerous to approach.

Hags typically disliked the thought of having to share their homes, and would often kill anyone they were forced to live with. However, if something required hags to put forth a unified front, then they would combine their efforts to form a hag coven, where there magical powers could be amplified. The hag coven was a specific type of alliance formed by three hags working together for mutual benefit, either of similar hag types or disparate. The coven itself enhanced their individual magical abilities, granting them access to powerful spells and rituals beyond the capabilities of a single hag. If a single member left the coven or died, the shared spellcraft and abilities would be lost, and the two remaining hags would often either abandon or kill each other.
