Skeletons were animated remains known for their relentless pursuit of the living, fueled by dark magic or cursed energies that bound their bones to an eternal existence of servitude or malevolence. Their remains were stripped of flesh, held together by dark necromantic forces or ancient curses and often tinged with moss, dirt, or remnants of burial shrouds.

Skeletons were typically created through Necromancy or Cursed rituals to perform a task, though could also rise of their own accord in places saturated with death and corrupting evil. They obeyed the commands of their creators or the dark magic that animated them, guarding tombs, carrying out vengeance, or serving as mindless foot soldiers in undead armies. These skeletons were often given scraps of armor or weapons to assist them in combat.

While skeletons were a terrifying sight to many smallfolk, they were typically easily bested in combat by adventurers. However, despite their desiccated state, their movements were surprisingly agile and coordinated, which increased their deadliness. Due to the brittle age of their bones, they were particularly vulnerable to bludgeoning and concussive forces.
