An undead was a type of creature that had died and then been animated by spiritual or magical forces, often found in the Material Realm or Umbral Realms. The characteristics of undead varied greatly depending on their origins and the nature of their resurrection, but those with corporeal forms were often marked by their decayed flesh, rotting stench, or unnatural appearance.
Undead typically inhabited areas steeped in death and decay, places where the veil between life and death was thin. They thrived in the dark, seeking out the living to sate their unnatural cravings or to fulfill the commands of their dark masters. Unlike the living, undead were tireless and relentless, driven by a singular purpose imposed upon them by their necromantic origin.
