Remorhaz

A remorhaz, also known as a polar worm or ice worm, was a Monstrosity resembling a gigantic cross between Earthworm and Centipede. They were ice-blue in color, had dozens of legs, and their backs glowed red with an inner fire that could melt all but the strongest of metals. Horns sprouted along their chitonous shell, and they had teeth has long as daggers. When fully grown, their near 40-foot long bodies sprouted tough leathery wings that flared when intimidating prey.

Remorhaz thrived in cold climates, particularly in arctic or mountainous regions, and were often the apex predator in their native environments. Their bodies produced an incredible amount of heat, allowing them to take advantage of the vulnerability that many creatures in their native environment possessed. When struck below their scales, this heat would blast out at their opponent, sometimes with enough force to burn an attacker outright.

They thrived beneath the ice, burrowing through the frozen ground with ease and lying in wait for unwary prey. When a living creature drew near, the remorhaz sprang from the ground and struck. They primarily used their teeth in combat, or swallowed its opponent whole and subjected it to its gizzard and fiery insides. Their chitinous shell naturally had very high resistance to magic
