Dragon scale mail resembled mundane scale-mail, but was composed with the scales of a Dragon rather than steel. Sometimes, dragons collected their cast-off scales and gifted them to humanoids, while at others, hunters carefully skinned and preserved the hide of a dead dragon. In either case, dragon scale mail was extremely valuable, and well-crafted versions of this armor could fetch fortunes.
An attuned user of the mail was better protected against regular damage, as the dragon's scales were harder than steel. Additionally, some vestiges of draconic power were transferred to the wearer: they would be better protected against any dragon's magical fear and breath weapons, and would have resistance to the elemental damage of the associated type. The wearer could also focus their senses to magically discern the distance and direction to the closest dragon within 30 miles of them, provided the dragon was of the same scale type.
