Flying swords were enchanted versions of their mundane variants that could float in the air and attack their target autonomously. They could be found in the form of almost any armament such as swords, maces, self-loading crossbows, or even gauntlets of armor. Like other animated objects, they followed the commands of their creators to the best of their ability and could follow simple instructions, but were easily dispelled and could be interrupted by enough physical force.
