Pony

A pony was a type of small Horse, usually measured under a specified height at maturity. They typically sported a thicker mane, tail, and coat compared to a standard horse. They were used for riding, driving, and carrying loads in various terrains. Many breeds existed, each with specific characteristics suited to different climates and tasks.

Ponies were domesticated and bred for work, companionship, and sport, especially by Halflings who could not ride regular horses. They often required less food than larger horses but needed proper care to avoid health issues such as obesity. Their temperament varied by breed and training, with some being gentle and suitable for children while others were more spirited. Ponies played a role in agriculture and transportation, but also featured in many competitive events, including show jumping and dressage.
