Abyssal chickens were small carnivores native to the Lower Realms, named after the Chickens found on the Prime Material. They had leathery wings, but were not capable of sustained flight, only able to sustain air for a few seconds. Their wings were folded above them, giving them a tear-shaped appearance. They had a large mouth filled with fangs and a long tongue. Abyssal chickens' primary form of locomotion was their two large legs, which ended in three-clawed feet.
Natural but tempermental predators, abyssal chickens used their claws and fangs to defend themselves or attack prey. Though they lacked eyes and intelligence, they had a form of limited blindsight up to a range of 30 feet.
