Giant crocodiles were a massive, powerful relative of the Crocodile, capable of growing up to 30 feet (9.1 meters) long. They were incredibly strong and were excellent swimmers, able to move stealthily both on the surface and beneath it despite their great bulk. Giant crocodiles could remain underwater without breathing for up to half an hour, and as ambush attackers, they were especially dangerous in deep or murky water. Their numbers varied by region but were exceptionally rare outside of swamps, where they typically claimed vast swaths of territory as an apex predator.
Giant crocodiles relied entirely on their natural weapons in combat. They ambushed prey from the water, seizing enemies in their powerful jaws and holding them fast until they bled out. Their long tails were also dangerous, as a sudden sweep could knock opponents from their feet and leave them vulnerable to another attack.
