Frontier Outpost of Reisa
Fort Stonejaw stands two days north of Kalorand, at the end of the High Fang Road.
The first day’s travel runs through rolling hills and thinning farms. The second climbs into broken highland terrain, where the wind sharpens and patrols grow infrequent. Fort Stonejaw marks the last point where authority, maintenance, and reliable shelter can be expected.
The fort is built directly into a stone rise overlooking the road’s final ascent. Its walls are thick, unadorned, and scarred by age rather than siege. No banners fly here. Its purpose is not display, but endurance.

The End of the Road
At Fort Stonejaw, the High Fang Road ends.
Beyond the gate, the stonework breaks down into ruts, scree, and exposed earth. What remains is a narrow foot track of unknown origin, climbing farther into the mountains. No one can say who cut it first, or where it truly leads. Maps disagree. Patrols do not follow it.
Travelers are warned plainly: beyond the fort, you are on your own.
The Settlement
Fort Stonejaw supports a small attached settlement clustered against its outer wall. It exists to serve caravans, patrols, and those who hesitate before going farther north.
The most notable structure is the Snow Lion Inn, a low, sturdy building of timber and stone.
The Snow Lion Inn is known as:
-
the last warm bed on the road
-
the final place to hire porters or guides
-
the point where rumors harden into decisions
Beyond the Snow Lion’s hearth, comforts thin quickly.
Reputation
Among travelers, Fort Stonejaw is spoken of with a mix of relief and unease.
Caravans unload here. Pilgrims reconsider their vows. Adventurers decide whether their preparations are enough.
No one mistakes Fort Stonejaw for a place of safety forever. It is a line held, not a haven promised.
