During a match of silkball, the field is divided into three sections: one for each team and a middle section called "no man's land".
The game starts with 9 balls in NML, everyone runs to center to scoop the spider silk balls up with special Silkball sticks. You may not throw in NML, but you can interfere with the other team's ability to capture a ball. A ball in NMLs is fair game for either team during all portions of the game except Free Throws (see below).
Once on their respective sides, players start hurling them at their opponents or the "goal". There is a giant spider web on either side to which the balls will stick. You can only catch balls with the stick, and you must stay on your side. If you are hit with a ball, it sticks to you and you're out. You win a round by getting the whole opposing team out or first to land 5 silk balls on the web. Matches are best 2 out of 3 rounds.
Fouls Include:
- Using magic
- Crossing onto the opponent's side of the field
- Hitting a ref with a Silkball
Fouls result in a free shot by the opposing team at you, 2nd foul is 2 players at once, 3rd is 3 players, a 4th sees you out of the game.
