Professor Walder is incredibly passionate about exploration, to the point where some consider it to be a bit of an obsession. It is rumoured that he applied for The Simera Guild with the hopes of being accepted to their coveted exploration team but declined his seat when he was told he would be part of the protection team instead. Whether or not this is true, it is clear that Professor Walder takes great joy in teaching and enjoys sharing his love of exploration and discovery with fresh minds. His courses are almost always full, both because his enthusiasm makes them much more interesting, and because oftentimes they are heavy on fieldwork--which usually means no final exam.
