Last session, we opened on the first day back at F.L.A.M.E. academy - the start of your senior year. Orientation day was very eventful. Some of you chose to partake in the day's activities, including Almiraj yoga and Icebreakers in the Café, while others decided to spend the day trying out new party drugs. But at the end of the day, you all ended up in the same place -- the big party at The Tooth and Talon Tavern. Lail showed up with a crystal ball that he'd stolen from his parents, which you all had a chance to use to scry on people. One of those people happened to be professor Vernon Rachard who you noticed snooping around The Greenhouse -- assumedly looking for evidence of drugs, based on what Kyr heard from Leroy Gam earlier that morning. Kyr and Kaida chose to go mess with him while the other two watched through the crystal ball as things got a little... heated ;)
The party didn't end there. Rosimyffenbip "Rosie" Wuzfeddlims came barreling into the tavern with colourful frogs that she had found at The Detention Bog and asked you all if you wanted to race them. Kaida's dapper frog won the race and a neat 30gp. But after the race was done, the frogs started to transform -- their eyes turned red and they grew into Giant Frogs that started attacking you. After dispatching with the problem, you recognized that these frogs were probably fey creatures, though how they came to be in the Detention Bog is anyone's guess.
The frog fiasco didn't deter anyone from the epic afterparty at Lail Ravenwood's house in Kamari. Ignis rode an owlbear, Kaida gave Clyde Thatcher an unfortunate haircut, Tyr helped Lail sneak the crystal ball back into his parent's closed-off room, and Kyr had a confrontation with Beth Vandrin who was not so happy about how things went down with the QUEST program.
The next morning, you all met up at The Biblioplex to meet your guild mentor, Keya Inafir. She was a pretty no-nonsense person and left promptly after giving you all a speech and your guild pendants, which she told you to bring to every mission. The rest of the week went by relatively smoothly. Ignis met their new roommate, Sanvii Binx. Kyr met his new lab partner, Elanil "Ella" Greyvere. Kyr and Kaida spent some time meeting with their professors. And before you knew it, the first week of classes were done and it was time for the very first QUEST trip!
For QUEST, you all met up at the teleportation circle in the Biblioplex where you were teleported to Rosehaven in the neighbouring nation of Roi. Here, you discovered that there had been a series of attacks by relentless beasts and monsters coming out of The Greymoss, the forest bordering the edge of town. Tyr and Kyr spoke with some of the civilians who witnessed the attacks, and Ignis and Kaida went with Keya to speak with Lady Neladrie Asva. You learned that there had been four attacks in the last two weeks, that Lord Asva did not want to bring the Simera guild into it, but Lady Asva felt it necessary after a group of five soldiers went missing in the Greymoss. The beasts were all different types of creatures but shared one thing in common: they could not be scared off and always went straight for the nearest person. Kyr and Tyr spoke with Oliver Fenwick and learned that he had his arm broken and a large bite on his shoulder from a group of raging dire wolves that had come through his farm.
After gathering intel, you all headed into the woods to investigate. You discovered a clearing off of the main trail where you found the bodies of the soldiers and their horses. Some of the bodies had a strange black substance around the edges of their wounds. While in the clearing, you were attacked by a group of Giant Boar who almost killed Kaida in one hit. Luckily, no one died in session one (hooray!), and you managed to take them out with the help of your guild mentor. After killing the boars, you found that they had a similar black, tarry substance in their veins, which looked to be distributed all throughout the body -- even to their hearts, which Kyr reached his bare hands into a corpse to retrieve.
Tyr, probably trying to help avoid a staph infection, poured water on Kyr's hands, and in doing so accidentally discovered that the black substance seems to be hydrophobic. When the water hit it, it glooped away from Kyr's hands and landed on the ground instead. Kyr took a sample of the substance.
Keya told you all that she would report back to the guilds with what you've found, and asked that you don't spread the word about this to your classmates. She also said that she would inform Lady Asva and get someone to keep an eye on Oliver, who was bitten by one of the crazed beasts. You all returned to the F.L.A.M.E. and are getting ready to start your second week of school.
