Second son of the House Spencer, Liam grew up knowing that the expectations of him aligned less with succession and more with betterment of the House name. Born Liam Adélard Bérenger de Spencer, his parents spared little expense on both their sons’ educations and upbringings.
Unfortunately, an expensive education is still no match for real-world experience or real-world addictions. During an outing as a squire alongside his knighted brother, the small group was ambushed by a dragon and Liam was severely injured in the resulting fight. Rushed back to the safety of the walls of Ishgard, the chirurgeon could not save his left limbs and thus ended young Liam’s stint as a squire.
Between the costly life-saving surgery and subsequent prosthetics, House Spencer took an unfortunately heavy financial hit. The Lord of the House did his best to recoup the loss and find favor with Lady Luck, but her rejection saw further financial drain upon the House. Misfortune after misfortune befell the Spencers afterwards, resulting in their subsequent fall from grace. Now an impoverished House, they are nobles in name only, and three of its members have taken this with outwardly quiet acceptance.
As one versed in etiquette and the teachings of Halone, Liam quietly became a member of the Church and worked as a clerk and then a rector for several years, dutifully finding small joys in balanced ledgers and books filled with black ink. The upset of Thordan’s treachery has seen his trust in the mortal members of the Church severely depleted, but his faith in The Fury unshaken. He traded in his vestments for more secular work, and is now an Auditor for the city state.
He has recently married Lady Maeva de Faepoix, in what was not concealed as an arranged marriage between Houses Faepoix and Spencer.
