Chain-Camp 7 is a fenced labour camp run by the Iron Gospel Railway to feed crews to nearby rail works and the Hollow King Claim. The layout is standardized: outer palisade with two watch towers, a gated roll-call yard, rows of bunk sheds (Orc barracks separate from warforged bays), a tool shed with lock cages, a lamp house, a mess line, and a small infirmary. A badge board lists each worker’s number, assignment (track, blast, haul, tip), and shift bell. Movement is by whistle code and colored tags; off-shift stays inside the inner yard. Freight spur and loading ramp sit outside the main gate for quick transfers.

Security mixes contractors and devices: Bugbear constables, Dwarf foremen with ledgers, and a few patrolling automatons (shock batons, torch lamps). Rules are posted in four lines: curfew at second bell, no blades beyond eating knives, no fire near powder, obey muster. Punishments are docked rations, isolation, or reassignment to the blast face; good marks earn commissary scrip and lighter duty. Visitors need a foreman’s writ and stay in the gate pen; religious or legal advocates are allowed only during daylight and under watch. Rumors persist of a smuggled message chain—carved bone tokens and coded work songs—used to plan escapes along the spur.
