Borrik Valecairn

Overseer

Borrik Valecairn is the Iron Gospel Railway's appointed overseer of Hollow King Claim, a wealthy dwarven executive with enough family money, company shares, and inherited influence to make himself difficult to remove no matter how badly he performs. Officially, he is there to manage extraction, labour, security, and rail output from one of the Railway’s most volatile mining sites. In practice, Borrik treats Hollow King Claim less like a company holding and more like a private lordship gifted to him by fate.

He struts through the Claim in tailored dustcoats, polished mail, and gold-trimmed boots, issuing contradictory orders with total certainty and expecting everyone around him to make his mistakes work. He has never doubted himself a day in his life, largely because wealth and rank have ensured someone else always paid for his errors. He is convinced he is taming the frontier through sheer personal greatness, when in reality Hollow King Claim survives mostly because capable people beneath him quietly redirect disasters before they can fully bloom.

Borrik is not subtle, not wise, and not nearly as feared as he believes. Unfortunately, he is still powerful.
