The Iron Isles

Archipelago

The archipelago known as the Iron Isles, situated east of the Vache Kingdom and south of the Nagan Empire, is a chain of four islands characterized by their abundant metal deposits. While most of the islands are under the control of the Vache Kingdom, the northernmost island is controlled by the Nagan Empire and is not typically considered part of the "Iron Isles." It is under the direct control of the Clan Nagikata.

The name "Iron Isles" derives from the wealth of metal resources scattered throughout the islands, which have led to extensive mining operations. The first island, Ebon Island, is largely uninhabitable and was once mined until the discovery of a dormant volcano beneath its surface forced its abandonment.

The second island, Ironheim, is the principal island of the archipelago and is directly controlled by the vampiric Everron family. They maintain several mines and mining towns throughout the island, exploiting its rich mineral resources. However, the harsh conditions and oppressive rule of the Everron family have sparked revolts among the local population. To appease their subjects and maintain control, Governor Jonathan Everron and his family introduced a blood tax, offering protection and financial benefits in return. While many accepted this arrangement, some areas of the Iron Isles remain contested territories, with rebellious mortals resisting vampiric rule. In these contested territories, Jonathan has allowed his vampire kin to freely feed as they please, rather than resorting to outright massacres.

Within Ironheim, the capital city of Steel Port serves as the seat of power for the Everron family. It is a bustling and perpetually active city, with sea ports and sky ports facilitating constant trade. Steel Port is heavily guarded by Ratfolk soldiers fiercely loyal to the Everron family. North of Steel Port lies Steel Spire, a town that was once a center of faith but now serves as a hub for miners and jewelers. Lucian Everron, a vampire lord, rules the town with an iron fist. Further north along the coast, the town known as the Iron Mines represents a vast and long-standing mining operation that has transformed into a worker town over the centuries.

Eastwards from Steel Spire and Steel Port is the city of Willton, serving as the stronghold of the separatists. The city is fortified with makeshift defenses and manned by mortal guards, prepared to defend against Everron forces. Although the city has never faced a full-scale siege, vampires occasionally infiltrate Willton to feed and instigate panic for their own amusement.

In the northern part of Ironheim, Metaltown thrives as an industrial town where skilled smiths and foundries convert various ores into ingots and other tools. Metaltown remains fiercely loyal to the Everron family. Further north lies the Ironshore, a mining operation that has evolved into a bustling port facilitating quick trade and transportation. The Ironshore maintains close ties with the people of Metaltown.

The Everron family's authority is particularly challenged in the separatist-controlled Pilligon Island, although the Vache Kingdom still maintains its claim over the island. The separatists on Pilligon Island struggle to maintain their autonomy while living in constant fear of the Everron family's retribution.

On Pilligon Island, the main town of Manoak represents a constant struggle for its inhabitants as they strive to farm, fish, and maintain their livelihoods while living in fear of the Everron family's actions. East of Manoak lies the port of Tartova, where sailors find employment and merchants from both Rivermond and the Khein Dynasty conduct trade, bringing a semblance of economic activity to the island.
