Jonathan Everron

Lord of Steel Port, Governor of the Iron Isles, Vampire Lord
NPC, Governor

Jonathan Everron was born human in the early days of the fourth age, during the rise of the Vache Kingdom, in a small village on the Iron Isles. His early years were shrouded in conflicts, he was thrown into warzones on the Iron Isles when the Vache Kingdom fought to control the islands, but as he grew older, he began to feel a growing sense of discontent with the monotony of his life. The life of a soldier was too repetetive and the horrors of war no longer fazed him. One day, he found himself on the battlefield, fighting for his life and country once more. However this time death visited him, he was cut down by a Nagan Samurai and was dying in the mud when something found him.

He begged for the first time in his life, he wanted it to end. He died that day on the battlefield and awoke as an undead. With the battle long gone he was starving and found himself craving blood. With corpses surrounding him he began to feed on other soldiers who were wounded or dead. From that moment on, Jonathan began his new life as a vampire. At first, he struggled to come to terms with his new identity and the thirst for blood that came with it. But over time, he grew to embrace his new nature and revel in the power it gave him.

Jonathan quickly rose to power in Steel Port, eventually establishing himself as the undisputed ruler of the Iron Isles. Other vampires and undead folk began to gathered around Jonathan. He built a court of undead who serve under him, and he fathered countless children and bastards. He also established an army of ratfolk, who acted as his eyes and ears throughout the city and across all of the Iron Isles. Despite his fearsome reputation, Jonathan is known to be a relatively merciful ruler, at least by vampire standards. He is fiercely protective of his subjects and will go to great lengths to defend them from outside threats. However, he is also known to be ruthlessly pragmatic, and he will not hesitate to sacrifice his own people if it means protecting his own interests.

In recent years, Jonathan has become increasingly reclusive, rarely leaving his stronghold in Steel Port. Some speculate that he is growing paranoid in his old age, while others believe that he is simply biding his time, waiting for the right moment to strike. Regardless of the truth, there is no denying that Jonathan Everron is one of the most powerful and feared vampires in all of the Vache Kingdom.

The Blood Tax.

Jonathan's blood tax is a unique system that has been in place for generations, allowing him to maintain control over his mortal subjects while also ensuring a steady supply of fresh blood for himself and his court of undead. Each month, every household under his rule is required to provide a certain amount of blood as a form of tribute to the vampire lord. This blood is collected by his agents and distributed among the members of his court, as well as himself, to sustain their undead existence. The amount of blood required varies depending on the size of the household, but all must provide a minimum amount to avoid punishment.

While the blood tax may seem brutal and oppressive to outsiders, those under Jonathan's rule are often willing to pay it willingly, as it guarantees their protection from outside threats and ensures that they will not be hunted down by the vampires in their own home. In some cases, mortals may even offer additional blood as a form of tribute to gain favor with the vampire lord or his court. Those who fail to pay the blood tax or attempt to hide their blood from the collectors are dealt with harshly, often resulting in punishments such as forced servitude or being turned into thralls. However, Jonathan is careful not to overtax his subjects, knowing that if he pushes them too far, they may revolt or seek help from outside forces.

Despite the fear and resentment that the blood tax may generate among his subjects, Jonathan sees it as a necessary means of maintaining control over his territory and ensuring the survival of his kind. He sees himself as a benevolent ruler, protecting his subjects from outside threats while also providing them with the means to survive in a harsh and dangerous world.
