Campaign: Duties and Oaths

Main Quest

Game StyleGritty Realism rules.

This variant uses a short rest of 8 hours and a long rest of 7 days. This puts the brakes on the campaign, requiring the players to carefully judge the benefits and drawbacks of combat. Characters can’t afford to engage in too many battles in a row, and all adventuring requires careful planning. This approach encourages the characters to spend time out of the dungeon. It’s a good option for campaigns that emphasize intrigue, politics, and interactions among other NPCs, and in which combat is rare or something to be avoided rather than rushed into.

Bastions of Honor

Campaign Premise

The Protectorate of Clan Yurami is a land where tradition and ambition collide, nestled within the highly spiritual Nagan Empire. Ruled by the samurai of Clan Yurami, the region thrives under a code of honor and the steady blade of its warriors. However, peace is fragile, as rival clans, internal politics, and monstrous threats constantly test the Protectorate's strength.

The party, as retainers and vassals of Clan Yurami, have been granted the rare opportunity to rise through the ranks. Their charge: to establish a strong foothold in the region by building a fortress, bringing imperial law to the untamed lands, and protecting the people under Yurami's banner. Through deeds of martial prowess and strategic cunning, they will prove their loyalty while forging their own legacy.

Yet, the region is not without its perils. Prehistoric creatures roam the wilderness, ancient evil spirits linger in the shadows, and rival samurai of Clan Liadon plot the Protectorate's downfall. The party's actions will ripple through the delicate balance of the clan's political landscape, drawing the eyes of both allies and foes.
